I was hoping you guys could help me out. I'm working on putting a renesis drivetrain in a miata right now and I'm a bit stumped on the EMS to use. Mainly since the auxillary port valve seems to operate in a weird way. Everything else I have a work around. This is the last little PIA I'm working on correcting. I know Motec has it worked out, however I'd rather not spend $5000 on their stuff. Could someone who has already gone with a full standalone, preferably the E11v2 send some help my way?

Most guys have stayed away from custom stand alones and gone with a computer called the interceptor X. However, we have to deal with traction control, ABS, electronic throttle bodies, variable speed fuel pumps, etc. The only other example I know of was a Tec3 which left the auxillary port open. Why not simplify your swap and do the same?

Yeah, I considered the interceptor, but since I won't dealing with the extras the RX-8 has, I'd rather just wire in a full stand alone. I've been about 50/50 just leaving it open, but now I'm leaning more toward keeping it open for now and hoping Haltech will figure out something in the future, or working something custom out. It's really a small thing in a long line of big things for this project. Anyways, I appreciate the help guys!

 

What are the experimental aircraft guys doing for this. I'm sure they aren't dealing with ABS and traction control. I hear quite a few Renesis engines have been used in aircraft.

 

They're dumping the upper manifold for custom and leaving the APV open, or they were, haven't been back there much in the last 6 months or so

I wasn't aware that Haltech had the ability to read the RX-8 trigger wheel. Are you changing this? If you are, I have a 36-1 triger wheel (actually Brillo owns it) for a Renesis that isn't going to get used. The Haltech can read it.

 

How exactly does the port valve work electronically?
