Thumbs down Cop TRIED to pace me

Ha, here I am crusing down the highway (speed limit 100Km/h) I'm going 114Km/h (well within the usual 120Km/h speed traps).

I'm from ontario and I'm driving in quebec (first bad, quebec cops pick on ontario drivers).

So I'm driving along on the nice clear day and TONS of cars ZOOM buy me, probably doing 130 or more.

There is a cop on the side of the road, so of course everyone that just passed me hits there brakes and slow down. I just keep cruising a long and I'm still going slower than those cars (barely, pretty much keeping pace).

So I see the cop car pull onto the highway. He pulls behind me .

Then he pulls beside me and is pretty much driving right beside me. Now I don't know if the ******* was pacing me or just wanted to look at the car. I look over at him he looks at me, I wave bye bye and I hit the brakes!

He can't pace me now SUCKA! :D

Pissed me off, if he would have stopped me it would have been totally discrimination because he saw my car, I was going SLOWER than traffic flow.

You seem a bit paranoid, if you weren't speeding, what do you care if a cop was around or not. Maybe he was admiring your car. I read a lot of cop bashing on here, wierd.

He was speeding (4km/h over the limit) but not as much as the other cars in the vicinity.

Maybe the cop hadn't seen an RX-8 upclose before and wanted to score one for his ticket-quota at the same time...

I'm betting he was admiring you. I work at a place that has heavy police presence. These cops stare at my car every time I drive through the security gate or while they are patrolling. I'm sure they love the looks of the car as much as their love of donuts.

Cop

Yes, I have Police Officers admiring my car all the time....some even come up and ask to sit in it. But this happens to me all the time not only police but every other Joe wants to see my car.

Hrmmm let me think a bit but Wing your paranoid...he was just drooling over your new car.

Cheers
Andrew

Wing,
Same thing happened to me tonight, a cop car drove alongside for a bit but I believe that he too was drooling! Don't worry, those cops are not out to get us. In fact, I told a family friend about the RX-8, and he's very excited to come over next Thursday to see it and drive it! And he is...a cop!
Cheers,
Canada

It's possible he was drooling, but you gotta remember Ontario Plates in Quebec mean disaster!

I've heard MANY stories of people with Ontario plates getting pulled over for bogus stuff.

I'll bait my wife's friend when he comes and probe whether there's any tendency for him or his fellow patrol officers to ticket cars with out-of-Quebec plates. Heck, I got a ticket this summer (before getting my RX-8) for going 90 on the highway access road where the limit is 50 (nobody EVER goes 50 there).

A cop paced me a few days ago on the Ottawa River Parkway. I slowed down when I saw him pulling up behind me (I was going at a "typical" speed for that road, which is over the speed limit). I guess he didn't like me slowing down like that, because he followed me onto Island Park and then onto Richmond. He didn't follow me into the cereal aisle of Loeb's though.

I don't think he was just admiring the car. I didn't see a thumbs-up or anything.

Len, I don't doubt it. And do they think we are stupid? I know if there is a cop behind me, or following me!

The other day I left hazeldean mall and as soon as I left so did a cop, coincidence? I don't think so, he followed me around Kanata and then gave up and pulled away.

******!

AH , urban legends, if you dont cross the 119 km/h quebec cops wont touch you, ( that is if your on the highway , dont you be doing 119 in a 30 zone :D ) I usually put the cruise to 119 and if a cop's around I slow down to 115 and dont get bothered.. When i'm in Ontario tho, it's zoom zoom , cruise control at 160 :D :D

Madjoker

P/S I think what youre refering to is maybe the Gatineau police, when I lived there,I heared they did ontario plate checking , but that was just to find out if the people living in the quebec province had quebec plates, and not ontario plates cause your plates are much cheaper than ours, but on the other hand our insurances are much cheaper than yours...

Madjoker, yes mostly Gatineau they are horrible.

Not urban legend, many people at work post on the newsgroup about their bogus 1Km/h over speeding tickets and stuff.

In ontario we have a sticker that expires on your b-day. So if your b-day is say 31 of Aug the sticker expires than but only says Expr Aug 2003 or whatever. In Ontario they can't fine you if you don't change it, as long as your b-day didn't pass.

But in Quebec they will fine you if it is the 1st of the month! Bogus!
