DIY: Dual clear side marker/ blinker mod.

Inspired from this thread I modded today my clear corners to accept additional 194 amber wide angle LED bulb for a side turn signal. Now the clear corners has a dual function – it is a bright white side marker and amber side blinker.
Here is my DIY for this cheap mod.
You need two 194 bulb sockets available at any autoparts store for about $7 both and 4 Crimp-On/ Tap-in wire connectors from RadioShack for a couple of $.
I got rubber like sockets, soft and very easy to work with.
Of course you need 2 wide angle amber 194 LED’s. Chrome 194 bulbs wont work, they are too high to fit in the marker housing.
There is DIY for the clear corners removal/installation so use it for a reference.
Now to the mod.
1. Drill an appropriate size hole in the marker housing, depending on the sockets you got. But, please, don’t drill the lens.
See pic for the hole location:

2. Use some pliers and from the top take the wires out of the socket and shorten it a bit:

3. Now put the wires back in the socket and you have a socket that will fit nicely:

4. Get a good access to the front turn signal bulb socket, removing the wheel well plastic cover. Take the socket out and tap-in the new side blinker to the front turn signal wires. +/- wires doesn’t matters here:

5. Put back all together and you have nice dual mode side marker/blinker.

Repeat the same for the other side marker.
That’s it. For about $10 total and 1 hour of work it is a nice mod.

Like I said, the idea is from the thread mentioned, it is not mine. I just made it work for cheap.
