That was waaaay too funny. I'm nearly in tears. It's probably so funny cause I've had trouble finding the damn thing -- and yes you start to feel retarded when you just reach inside and down and can't find it!

Man, maybe someone could do a diy post for an illuminated switch with rotary shaped led's or something. I have to go find a tissue!

Relax guys, I found a way (accidentally) to get the fob trunk release to work with the key in the ignition. See this DIY thread here...

Cool mate, but we've discovered the trunk release button.

So who's gonna be the first to lock their car with the keys in the ignition?

You can easily do that with this mod if you use the door switch to lock the car, so unless you're in the habit of using your fob to lock the car - think twice about doing this mod.

The "sticky" method mentioned in your thread was great. :D

cheers,

Now that you mention it, I suppose that you can lock lock the car without using the remote.......I haven't done that in five years!!!!

that sucker is annoyingly hard to find. I think I scratched up the area around the button already with all those failed attempts to press it.

lol, i sent my sister to school with the 8 and i couldnt find the trunk release button (her school bag is in the trunk). i searched for about 2-3 minutes, even searched the compartment on the passenger side dash... and i made the mistake of pressing the button. so i tried to use the button on the remote... and it doesn't work.

my sister was like shouting at me and almost want to kill me.... then i found the trunk release button, and pressed it.... guess what, nofin happens. a memory flash back of reading the manual.... i realised i had disabled the trunk release. so yeh, wasnt until 5 mins later did my sis managed to get her school bag out :p ..... and boi, that was embarasing.

Tried it today....you can't lock the car with the keys in the ignition. Unless you use another key or remote. I couldn't lock the car using the lock button on the door....as soon as you push it, it pops out again.....

Hi Gomez,
When you did this test, which ignition switch position was the key at - LOCK, ACC, or ON?

Would you mind trying it with key in LOCK position if you did not do that already?

cheers,

How I love an experiment...!!! Okay, the door would not lock in Acc, Lock, or On positions......Nor would the door lock with the key removed from the ignition...ie, in my pocket....!

So, I think you're safe....you can't lock the keys in the car...the passenger door will lock, not the drivers....

Regards, Gomez.
