I'm not sure what color I'm going to paint it. My car is SBM so painting it the stock color would be a pain in the ***. I might just go with black for now.

Intro price of $75 is still in effect until I update the epitroch.com website to reflect the regular price of $80.

Nice pic Nightshade--Congrats on being one of the first people to install! Envious you're in a warm place. It will be at least two more months before my RX-8 is back on the road full time here in Ohio.

Please let me know if you have any comments on the installation instructions. Is there any changes I can make to improve them?

Also, do you think I should include details on how to install the sohn adapter itself beyond what Real World Solutions, Inc provides?

Definitely WaitingforFI. Let me know what you would like to see. I've heard the coolant overflow reservoir is a high failure part (plus it looks cheap)....I'll be exploring a redesign of that part next.

Dan,
I had the coolant float issue that is mentioned here: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tec...ervoir-209247/ which mazda solved by replacing the whole assembly as it was under warranty. If you are looking to fabricate something your going to need to compete with MAZMART - Serving The Mazda Community Since 1980. RX8 Coolant Tank (2004-11)

If you have the ability, I would be 1st inline to buy something like the first gauge pod: rx-8/products

Great feedback WaitingforFI...we'll take a look at those items as well.

I am curious if anyone besides niteshade has completed the installation of their sohn adapter installation support kit. If so, please post a pic so we can see it. Thanks!

I just got my kit today. It seems that USPS put a boot sized hole in the side of my box, but thankfully all the parts were there and undamaged! I'm completely amazed that the hardware didn't fall out of the box during transit with that big of a hole in the side.

For reference I ordered mine without the washer bottle since I don't have a window washer system because racecar. Props to Epitroch for being flexible on this, there are a lot of companies out there that refuse to work with out of the ordinary requests, thank you for not being one of those companies!

I will be mounting my catch can where the washer bottle goes, was very happy to kill two birds with one stone and have a new mounting solution for that thing as well as a nice and neat oil tank setup.

Quick review:
-The aluminum plate is thicker than I thought it would be, very sturdy.
-I did a quick test fit and all the holes line up perfectly.
-The oil tank and line and all hardware seem to be of very high quality.
-Everything you need is included in the kit, it even has some zip ties for routing the oil line.
-Instructions and documentation that come with the kit are EXTREMELY detailed and easy to understand, very nice!
-The hand written thank you note was a nice touch, don't see that very often.

I probably won't install it until I get the engine back in, but will have more info in my build thread when I do.

Anyways, definitely looking forward to more products from Epitroch. This kit at even the non-introductory price is a no-brainer and great value for anyone that is thinking of getting a SOHN adapter or anyone that wants a cleaner and neater solution for an external oil injection tank.

Thanks for the positive feedback Arca_ex. Its great to hear you are a satisfied customer!

When we ship a kit, we tape the hardware bag to the inside of the box...that is likely what saved the hardware from loss. Phew!

Please post the link to your build thread here and on the epitroch vendor page as well. We'll follow your progress along.

I agree with waitingforFI I have 3 52mm gages I've been trying to figure out where to put. Can't put them on the frame at the door (side curtain airbag) don't want to cut up the dash. This leaves me with the ash tray but a $130 price tag is more than I payed for the 3 gages and has stalled my install.

Over flow for the radiator is another hi price mod I would like to do but the only good after market replacement is $600 something I'm not ready to fork over for this mod.

As for your direction I didn't even look at them till I was done. My mechanical skills are above average and can usually figure it out by looking at it. But I did look at them after install and they read easy and lots of detail.

FYI, the side curtain air bag does not come out of the pillar. It comes down from above the door.

I hope those gauges are used. I don't think I would have a faith on gauges that cheap. Also, you are going to need to hack up dash to install the gauge pod i referenced.

JDM gauges about $30 a pop so 3x30=$90 not much less but still less than $130 for the pod. If they do crap out I'm not out much. As for cutting up the dash I really don't wish to do this.

There is no way to install gauges on the top part of the dash (while hiding the wires) unless you cut into the dash, or you buy this part: 091-030-004

Right Hand Drive Compatibility--help

All,

Epitroch LLC has received queries about our kit and its compatibility with right hand drive vehicles such as those in Australia. We think our kit's back plate could simply be reversed but we are looking for pictures of RHD engine bays to confirm. Please post pics or links to pics that clearly show the window washer container area within a RHD engine bay. Thanks!

Hey man I am so interested in this please send eBay link I need this!

Very cool Niteshade. Looking forward to seeing what you can do with our logo.

We are about to put together the next batch of kits and may experiment with laser engraving some of the aluminum back plates.

huh? You don't put gauges in the retractable nav tray… you put a tablet in it! sure you can start with a lilliput screen wired to a carpc, but you'll eventually end up with a tablet there. gauges?!?!?! go with a blockhead's kit or the rare CF mount (there's one for sale now in the classifieds here) and the racing beat ashtray kit.

pfft unimpressed, u fail

Whoops... I meant you either need to cut into the dash and mount a gauge pod or replace the dash with a tablet. not sure what I was thinking when I type that.
