**HELP COOLANT LEEKING RIGHT THROUGH THE CAR**. pics inside

so the other day i was on the freeway when i noticed my cars heat shoot. so i pulled off at the gas station and added more fluid. by the time i got home the same thing hapened, and continued to leak.

this am i bought a galon of coolant and added some in and started the car on jacks. nothing came out so i thought it was too hot and over filled. butt later i added the rest of the gallon in the resevior and let car start to heat up and coolant came right outta the bottom. it looks to be by the oil pan and the trans. but i cant get under there due to surgery.

here are some pics

Don't drive the car until you have it fixed. These engines are not forgiving of overheating. The location of the leak suggests it could be from one of the heater hoses that enter the interior of the car through the firewall.

Maybe a hose went? This car have original hoses? As others have said this is very critical fix. Do not overheat the engine.

there is a water hose in the back of the engine where the engine meet the tranny, right next to the hoist bracket. you could see it from the driver side firewall toward passenger side. That is the hardest water host to change, you may need to take out the upper intake manifold to change it. That water outlet has been there through out the 13b years. FC, FD and SE.

Thx winning. I'll have to check that because the tranny seemed wet but we were all puzzled that there would be a coolant hose going into the trany

so i think im f*&ked!!!!

i jacked up the car to look for the hose we were talking about earlier and the fluid spews right outta the tranny and the starter!!!! i dont y. where the primary leak is, there seems to be a screw that goes there but . i can stop the drain with my finger when i cover the whole but then it starts coming out of the starter to side. so im so confused, and stresssssed out right now, .

here are some pics

If it's coming right inside the tranny then it will be the freeze plug behind the flywheel.

It is odd, the freeze plug don't suppose to leak coolant unless you have very high mileage or you freeze your engine in some point. How many miles and did it snow where you live? did you use more water to coolant ratio? anyway to change freeze plug you have to drop tranny and take out the flywheel. I think there is six of them, you could ask mazdatrix for more info. Are you going to do it yourself or letting some local shop to do it for you?

The good news is the freeze plug is cheap, like 20 dollars. The bad news is either you have to do it yourself or or pay 300-500 for labor. If you are doing it yourself, you have to buy some coating to put on the freeze plug before you hit it in with the freeze plug punch, I for got what it call, but you could check with your local parts store. When you try to punch in the freeze plug, just hit until it's flush. very simple just takes a lot of time.

Only one plug fell out.

Just cap it like the oil well in the Gulf.

No need to go scuba diveing and re-cap all the well holes

I have the flywheel wrench if you want to borrow it. your going to need some u joints and other tools as well.

I'd ask BHR how much they want to charge you. They come out here often.

Probably just the lower heater hose. They blow and coolant goes everywhere.

A "leek" like that is usually caused by onions of garlic.

I was thinking of that as well. but it would roll off to the left if that were the case.
