Angry Dealership totaled my car after car caught fire from new engine replacement

So here goes my story. I went down to the Cape Cod run with everybody the other day. After the meet i drove straight to my friend house hung out there for a bit went to start the car, nothing, its was cranking but not starting.

Next day I tow it to my house because the stealership was closed for service. I checked the dipstick and it was all the way to the L line I'm like wtf. I just did an oil change a few days ago it was fill no way I burned all that in 200 miles so i fill it back up.

Next day comes along and I tow it to the stealership. I told him my situation and this isn't the first time I've been here. I actually came here to gets compression test a while but they wouldn't do it because they told me they'll only do it if your car floods. Even if it didn't I still wanted to get one to be sure because my miles are coming up. So i ended up not getting a test done that day.

So Back to my story i towed it to the stealership the next day they check on it and after about 2 hours come to a conclusion that its my spark plugs he says three are foul and one seems wet. I just changed them last summer. He said it was going to be 470 bucks which is ridiculous when I change them for like80 bucks and takes like half hour. I really didn't want to throw all that money out on stupid plugs, but I really wanted the compression test and he said the only way to get the test is to change to new plugs. I really wanted to tow it back change the plugs at my house then tow it back but that's a lot of time, so I agreed

I waited for about an hour and a half finally done. He tells me the car is running fine. I asked him if they did a compression test, he was kind of hesitant about it and he said they did a simple one whatever that means sounds more like bull **** if you ask me. The craziest part was he said I needed a new clutch too ,which is kind of odd because I just replaced it 4 months ago. Some more bull ****. I think he just said it cause I went there before because i was losing power it ended up being the clutch so I fixed it myself. He probably saw the history.

He said he drove it and said he stalled. Of course your going to stall if your not use to driving with an ACT clutch and fly wheel Lmfao. He said it feels weird lol. I told him I just replaced it and he kept suggesting I replace it and quoted me 1200 for the part.WTF after you tell him you replace it already youd think he'd understand. I drive the car home and its fine.

Next day Is start it up to go to work its barely wanted to start I'm like wtf now. Drove it to work out was fine as I start it up again after work same problem. I drove it to my friends house trying to figure out what it could be. So I thought it might be the coils and wires. I went to the stealership and picked those up costed me another fortune almost300 bucks. I take them back to my car and install them car started right up I'm like yes. I let it run until normal temperature.

After about two hours later I was heading home went to start the car up same problem I had before took a while to start but it eventually started. I look at the back of the car and tons of white smoke was coming out. I drove it home. I remember checking the oil earlier and it was right below the full line i let the car sit for a bit i come back later to start the car and nothing. cranks but doesn't start and then it would almost start then shut back off. checked the oil its half way. I'm like here we go again. I only drove about 6 or7 miles from my friends house no way I burnt all that.

There's no leak anywhere. I'm assuming it must be all just pumping into the engine. That's why there was all that white smoke earlier. So tomorrow going to be another day at the dealers. They better give me compression test tomorrow. I really need this compression test because I'm a at 91000 miles now.

Anybody have any idea what might be wrong? I have a feeling its compression.

white smoke is not oil. he did not do a compression test. you will have to pay them to do an actual compression test. do you have more than one dealer in your area?

White smoke is coolant, but you seem to be burning oil too. I see a new engine in your future. Ira Mazda & Liberty Mazda are near by.

Yea sorry about that I was posting from my cell phone. I thought I had indented everything then when it posted it didn't. Yea that's where I have been bringing it Liberty Mazda. As for Ira forget about it they already try to con me out of3000 bucks when my check engine light came on it was the ecu. They said I voided my warranty because I had to many after market parts. Only thing I had in there was a Mazda speed cold air intake lol. Brought it to wellessly Mazda they checked it and laughed saying the car basically stock Lmfao and honored the warranty.
I noticed that my coolant light has been flickering on and off but when I check the coolant its still at full. Does that mean there's a crack somewhere and would that show as low compression?

I'm no expert so this is purely speculation and likely FUD on my part.

Compression test may not fail, if the crack in the block is before the compression cycle.

Coolant flows through the water-jacket passageways and oil flows through the housings inside the tubular dowels.

Sounds to me like a cracked Rotor Housing ..... again I know nothing .. I'm sure CRH will be along any minute now to shoot me down.

probably burning coolant like mine, and at the same time rapidly losing compression.

you will get a new engine, hope you have oil change records ready

Well got the news today going to need a new engine. Its covered under the warranty because I'm at91000. Got pretty close.

Only problem is now they want maintenance records WTF. I do my own pill changes every 3000 miles, now what? Mazda doesn't want to replace the motor unless I come up with maintenance receipts I don't have any receipts . This is BS

you need to show the something. even if you just recorded the date and mileage of each change in the back of your owners manual. that plus some CC bills if paid for oil and filters with plastic

of course you need to proof that you did your part.

Thats typical for all warranty work. Mazda or not.

I have a box in the basement JUST for this purpose ... keep receipts there.

They approved my engine, What i did is i went on mazda's car owner website, type in all my oil changes, air filter change, and all the maintenance with the approximate mileage with matchingday. Then i went to my online bank account, found all the record of me purchasing more than $30 from autozone (which would be oil and filter) and also the 1 jiffy lube record, i pulled from online statement aswell as older pdf statements.

I highlighted the autozone purchase, and print out my mazda owner website's maintenance record. and it got approved, but you have to prove that you did your part. good luck.

by the way, WHEN ASKED, you only run 5W20 dino juice only.

Sorry about that, you should keep the receipts for your oil and filter in a bag in your car, like your trunk. I do that with all my records so wherever the car goes, the records go. But making copies and keeping it in your room is also good.

Sorry to hear man, hope everything works out. Keep us updated.

So finally got the call today. They approved me for a new motor.

The only problem is they said there's not one motor available in the US. There's been a shortage of motors. They said I Have to wait about a week for one from Japan.

Bs. it always takes about 4-5 days to get it from the rebuild facility. it takes longer than a week to get one from japan.

Mine went in a week and a half ago for a new engine. I was told two weeks for the dealership to get the engine. Hopefully they at least pulled the old engine in the week and a half its been sitting there to speed the process along. Probably wishful thinking.

That's exactly the same thing I said. He said it'll be in around the 18 th which sounds normal to me about 4 or5 days. Yea I agree anything from Japan would at least take 6 to 8 weeks.

Well guys the motor finally came in. Its getting installed today. I got the call this morning but again for some reason the service manger still insisted I replace my clutch.

He said one of the tech guys said that I should replace it since the motor coming out any way and that he'll only charge me an hour worth of labor. I told him what I told him before I don't need to replace it because I just changed everything like 4 months ago. What is wrong with these people. Are they just trying to rape me for more money? Because my clutch feels fine when I drive it.

Does anybody know if a new fly wheel comes on the new motor? Because I have an ACT fly wheel on it that pretty much brand new and I would like that to be reused.

No, just the core is swapped, everything else is just transfered from the old motor, even coils and plugs. They would transfer fluids, seals, and gaskets if they were re-usable. As it is you will get charged for that stuff.

Within powertrain warranty an engine replacement is entirely free, outside powertrain but within the 100k core, you get charged for all the stuff that they have to replace that isn't part of the core. Usually around $500 total.

If you don't need a clutch, just tell them no, or ask them to SHOW you why. Tom is a great service manager, and wouldn't object to them showing you if they truly believe you need it.

Yea Toms been real helpful Its the tech guys who seem to be feeding him crap. I told him no i don't need it and once they pull it apart they'll see for themselves that its new.

I have a feeling that they think the clutch is feeling weird or not doing anything, maybe because the motor was dying and it sure did die lmfao

They were commenting on my clutch when they were trying to find a reason to fail my 8. Said it was the stiffest 8 clutch (stock) they have ever felt. Nothing negative about it, but makes me wonder what their usual is if they are also commenting on yours.
