Have you never changed the fuel pump?

I need to do this since I'm a little over 100K.

Are you feeling the engine running out of gas(leaning out)when you are pushing it in the high revs?

You need a tool from NAPA to remove the fuel pump.

Angry nearing 100k and encountered prob.

hey guys looking for some help/ advice. ive had my 8 for a little over a year now and im in love with my car. the problem is im at 98,600 miles and bought it with 65,000. last week i went for a ride and noticed someting was up. when i put it in first gear to take off i feel it hesitating almost as if it were misfiring when i get up to about 10mph or 2k rpm it returns back to normal and i feel power coming back, same thing happens when putting it in second gear again untill i hit about 3,000 rpms. third gear a little less notisable and so on. when going into 6th gear you dont even notice... i just wanted to know if anyone has experienced this and can help me out. ive been told it could be various things anything from clutch, to gas pump and even blown motor =x. please let me know what you guys think. i appreciate it.

Please give us all the info on your car, year, what service it has had, plugs, anything you can add. It could be the motor mounts...

Just realized I'm at 100,132 miles this morning. Took three motors to get there but I still love her.

13BREW swap = 10-15k. That's a nice down payment on 335i.

5-7k, hahahahahaha. I guess if you have a used motor, and crappy parts but for a good solid setup it will be 10 at least. Ask deathwalkin (or whatever his screen name is).

It cost more than 5-7k to get a decent setup on a renny. But what do I know, I have only turboed two cars and supercharged one car I have owned. Not to mention I have owned three factory turbocharged cars. Like I said, done properly, it can't be done for that cheap. Unless of course you get free labor.

If you read the previous posts in the thread I had a rebuilt engine put in around 110,000. I didn't have a catastrophic engine failure, but other issues that lead me to do that at the time. My 2nd engine as almost 30,000 miles on it and I pre-mix and mostly use 89 Octane gas. I strongly feel pre-mix is needed on 2004-2008's. If not why did Mazda change the way the OM system works on the 09's and newer?

Uh, what percentage of RX-8 owners premix? I believe the answer to your question is: to increase the margin of error for the many 8 owners who don't use the right oil, don't check it as often as they're supposed to, don't let the engine warm up a bit before moving, don't rev it high regularly, insist on modding their engines, etc, etc, etc.

The 8 is simply not as forgiving of owner neglect as piston-engined cars. I suspect the redesigned 09's will be better in that regard. What else would you like to know??
