good luck trading it in, the rx8 is the car no dealer wants, and with that mileage... before my engine died, I tried to trade it in, with only 41k miles, they offered me 7 thousand for it...

I believe he said that he was going to try to take it to 200k miles by 2011...how did trading it in come out of that?

If others here are like myself, I have absolutly no plans on ever selling my RX8.

With the amount of money I have put into it mod wise and how much I will continue to put into it, I'd lose so much cash it wouldn't even be funny.

Due to the low amount of return on selling the car it would be pointless to let it go. It's worth more in my garage then it could ever be as cash in the bank.

Yes, original CAT still on. I should note that on the 1st post.

Since 50,000 Other than maintenance items I have spent about $3,000, $1,500 of which could be look at as MODS since the OEM parts was still functional.

The first 40,000 the dealer did the changes. 40,000-70,000 I used Castrol GTX 5W30. Royal Purple 5W30 since.

I know I would get hosed on a trade in so if I were to sell it it would be private. I think my documented RX-8 would make a better used car than some 40,000 mile ones owned by avg people. If the rest of the car is still in good shape I just might get a Mazmart rebuild and start over.

I hope you all noticed this.
As expo1 has demonstrated, the cat can handle it.
Until Mazda goes to a seperate oil tank for the MOP, this is cheap insurance.

Great post. It’s nice to hear that some one other than me is having no issues with a 2004. Reading this forum could lead a person to believe that most of the 2004s will have engines replaced.

No offense Expo1, but I'm not surprised ONE bit that your car has made it 100K + and is still running like a champ. You're definitely one of the good guys around here and you're knowledgable enough to know how to treat your 8 right.

Congrats!

Here's to another 100K
