The opening is too flat, it needs to open more like a traditional scoop. It's going to look funny on a non-black hood unless you cut a hole or pain the hood.

^^^NO. The opening is not "too flat" please don't make it any different that the one in the picture. If i wanted to put a hugh cowl induction hood scoop on my car i would own a subaru......... I like the low profile look and hopefully everyone else does to. What are you talkin' about, the 8 in the picture is WHITE and it looks smokin'. If you lay a peice of black vynal, like the one graffics are made out of, on the open area, where you would see the hood, then it would look like there was a hole.

Nobody said anything about a huge cowl scoop.

I think the opening needs to be more of a squished oval, right now it looks like a big hole in the hood, it doesn't look right. It needs to slope upward a bit more and look less like someone drilled a big circle straight down through the hood.

If it stays the way it is then I'm out.

Didnt the concept hood we all looked at in the beginning of this thread which started the demand for this hood scoop look like a squished oval?

it should have a "floor" where i have colored in the are that was black in the above pic. the hole or mesh should be where i have made black in my pic. i think i said something like that previously. and i agree with with umbra that it needs to be a little taller like the darker clay colored line i added in the pic below

Very rice! Maybe we could start a new trend...pixelated paint scheme! Maybe not though, I'm sure a Civic owner has already thought of it.

I agree, that is more what I was thinking too. Looks more like a traditional hood scoop, and I think it would be better for the people looking to do functional too. With a higher dome, it would catch more air and pressure. Excellent touch up to the original pic....

I recommend drilling a few screws or installing a few nuts & bolts to hold down the hood scoop if you decided to make the hood scoop functional.

Yes...we are fixing the hood scoop to best match the Concept one. There will be more pictures once the clay model is done. I will get the majority approval here in the forum before we make the mold. Thank you for all those who add their names to the list.
I started to re-read this thread and notice the above. Not sure how helpful HUS will be in adjusting the product. I do not want to spend a $200 or so and have to cut the damn thing my self.

ill totally get one, but I need to know about how much it costs and how am I gonna be able to install it?

If it's not to hard, then I would opt for FG

HUS, any word on pricing? Can you give us fairly accurate +/-10% estimates for FG and CF hoods? Min. amounts required for fabrication or cost and desired profit margins?

Thanks,

In regards to the original or this MS Paint version

I hope you do realize there is no function to this... at all. Your suckin in air to the back of the engine bay when the intake is much further up. There is no way this thing is going to ventilate air out either. So 1 - no air going in to anywhere that it is needed, 2 - no hot air from the motor is being released.

Nobody better bring up the "But WRX STIs have it". Blah... and theirs is also completely non-functional. The Subaru WRC Rally cars actually have the hood scoop closed, since it provides no benefit.

As an aesthetics only mod... i guess its all right. Thats reallly just up to your own personal opinion though.

Sorry to **** on the hood scoop parade. Just wanted to get that out.

Actually you are wrong. The intercooler is located there.

Umm are you sure about that? WRX STi have a top mounted intercooler. Guess what is directly over the intercooler? That's right, the hood scoop. It is functional.

That is true, you can see the plasitc black intake vent on the front. So the hoop scoop is not for intake at all, just the intercooler. I am not really concerned about function at first, once the warranty is up...then I can look at making it functional. As far as aesthetics, yes I do believe it will make alot of difference. I mean come on, if a neon can look good with a scoop, I know the RX8 will look good!
