thanks for the SS footnotes...

They said that there were more preorders than anticipated and they were very pleased by that. In fact the desiginer of the 8.. can't remember his name this second and I can't read the autograph he gave me on the RX-8 poster , said he JUST got his 8.. he had to wait months in Japan for it.. he didn't get any prefered treatment.. in fact he was at the end of the list.. Mazda said that every Rensis engine is accounted for and that it was almost impossible for them to get the 80 some engines to do the Star Racing (or whatever it was called) they did earlier in the year because that ment 80 cars they couldn't sell.
That being said they JUST started advertising the car and were hoping for the sales to spike for the next year and gradualy decrease after that. They said 2500 cars a month for the first year would be a success followed by 2000 cars a month after that.
The more I think about it.. I think it has to be world wide.. 2500 is a LOT of cars!!

Thanks for the update! I am VERY close to buying an RX8 (might even be tomorrow) I got to test drive a 6MT today.
I'm really sorry I missed SS this year, but there's always next year

I'm worried! I don't think they'll meet their sales goals. This is not a mass appeal car.
Also, it looks like this first year model, if successful, will be left behind by a turbo model for 2005. No ECU modifications are indicated based on the cat heat problems.
Too bad! I kept mine hoping things would improve.
