I think Bern hit all the answers!

SS14 was powered by 10 Red Shirts and 6 volunteers...
You know how many cars I pushed on Saturday?

I have one answer for the small # of negative Nancy comments.
Hit us up if you'd like to volunteer for SS15, if it happens...

but for now, THANK YOU ALL! THE PARTICIPANTS MADE THIS EVENT SO OVERWHELMING!!

I do have a suggestion for Jedi for next year (if it happens)

A sevenstock volunteer caravan. We still meet before, drive together as a group and have a blast. Once we get there we're in volunteer mode and now we have 50+ red shirts to expedite getting everything going, and beam down to the surface and get killed within the first 60 seconds... oh wait, that's star trek.

Could also split into two caravans with the volunteers at the front and the non volunteers at the back. I for one have no problem helping out if it means sevenstock 15+.

This venue held more cars than Irvine.

There were over 300 cars in the Fairplex, Irvine holds 260.
At Irvine, we are forced to park in the parking spots, and we can't park on any red curbs. (Anyone remember the year w/ the security guard threatening to ticket/tow cars?)

In the Fairplex, they had more freedom on where they parked cars. So, if we would have been in Irvine, we would have had at least 40 more cars turned away at the door.

This was my 8th Sevenstock. I think this venue, by far, was much better. The fact that we had shade, places to sit, some indoor areas for cars, and full working bathrooms was well worth the price.

BTW - If you didn't like waiting in line (I didn't mind because I took a nap), you could volunteer next year. The more volunteers, the quicker we get everyone parked, and...

Volunteers don't have to wait in line! Their cars get parked early
^THIS

seriously...

Why are people acting like cars have never been turned away at 7stock before??

"OH NO! PEOPLE ARE TURNING AWAY CARS AT SEVENSTOCK!? THAT'S BULLSHIT! THAT'S NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE"

not sure if you guys ever looked at the staging lots when sevenstock was at irvine but there were actually more cars turned away at Irvine than there were at Pomona...

yeah it definitely does suck to see such awesome cars (seriously, i honestly would have given my spot in courtyard for some of them) not get showcased but tbh, that's why a lot of us...and i mean A LOT OF US...wake up at the buttcrack of dawn (some of us don't even sleep) to insure that all of the work we put into our cars is seen by our peers at the biggest event of the year for rotaries.

another point i kinda wanna address is people assuming that the 7stock organizers can even get a remotely accurate guess on how many cars will be in attendance...

The socal caravan:

Q. How many cars signed up? ...57

Q. How many cars actually showed up? ...68

Every caravan that showed up to the socal caravan brought almost 3 extra cars...

Meanwhile on the 7club...

how many people signed up to show up?? ......?

seriously...the majority of the 7owners that i've ever met almost NEVER sign up to 'events' to let people know they're gonna be there...they just show up. That's pretty much been a fact since the 7club has existed.

why?? possibly because some of their cars weren't working until THAT morning. (btw, props to Kevin @ lucky 7's for gettin' his motor in at 2am - and 13x (ray) for gettin' their 7 goin' that day too...it really sucks that it didn't make it in tho ). Most of these guys are truly dedicated to what they do and they're all so determined to meet the deadline that they never get time to log onto the internet n' keep up with the nonsense that goes on...they just wanna know the time n' place.

i guess my point is there is no way the 7stock organizers can ever really get an accurate guess on how many cars to expect...Every year has been a surprise as to how many show up - the only thing we can do as a community is communicate as much as possible and show up EARLY.

My opinion on 7stock 14: ******' awesome. Loved every minute of it. Except for those 5 minutes i spent walking around my car trying to figure out why my trunk won't open...only to realize later that it was because my battery was disconnected...

The venue was more than I expected. Loved the indoor and loved the outdoor. Nice section around the fountain. I thought even the vendor area was great. The Hotel was very nice and a bargain for the price.

Not sure of what percentage of return from the entrance fee and vendor fees come back to SoCal but with the turn out they should have enough for next year. I thought that it was just too small a parking area and should be enlarged for next year thus having more $ in the pipe line. Not having a SS representative at the vendor set up area caused a small delay. Yes the food was pricey but the food at most venues is high. I wish that the food vendors would have opened up earlier

A lot of work went into this years event and it showed. Yes there were some snafus but overall it was the best experience I've have at a SS in years.

people complaining about your cars not being in i parked in the visitor lot, all your cars were ugly anyway no reason to show em off, the good cars made it in and thats what matters. i iked the car setup because in the short timei was there i saw every car, were in every sevenstock before id sually only get to rx8s and 3rd gens so it was nice to see everything for a change

interesting, while everyone brings there car to show off what they have done since the prior year I never thought it was an all our beauty contest but a gathering of rotories and in my opinion the ppl that own and work on them

My car is not "courtyard" worthy but I paid the extra to help the cause, frankly I'd be interested in a non "show quality" car that drove hundreds of mines and what they are doing to get the relability out of their car

just sayying

im not saying show quality, but atleast take pride in what you have, which usually isnt a problem with early rx and first gens, third gens. mostly directed to all the crappy fc's i saw in the visitor lot

I think for me it was just the spacing. Everything seemed somewhat cramped. As atilla said, I as well would of given my spot up had i known the spacing was so limited. It just seemed being as the place from the outside seemed huge, everyone would have made it in.

I respect EVERYTHING the socal crew did to make this possible because without them there wouldn't of been a sevenstock to talk about. As Bern said, as long as points are constructive any opinion is welcome. I have not bashed nor do I plan on bashing anyone. All im putting here is my own opinion of what I saw Saturday.

I know like Bern pointed out there is the $ gamble in putting on an event location, shirts, insurance etc etc etc etc and 99% of the time organizers will fall short of even breaking even.

Who really would know what the turnout would be like it was later in the year and halloween weekend.

I will be meeting with some of our locals later this week and we'll toss around ideas for SS fundraising (we are already doing so for WHiV5). If each group raised say 1k and donated to the SS cause it would add up fast and not only insure there is a SS15 but enable it to expand. It is never too early to start

btw, one of my favorite memories from this past 7stock.

*Flashwing puts on a new CD*

Atilla: "Todd...what the hell are we listening to right now??

Laythor: "...Whale sounds..."

The image of Flashwing rollin' down the street bumpin' "Whale sounds" was stuck in my head for hours.

no need to quote: Atilla's Post #15 SUMS IT ALL UP. It was madness in the morning, then Jedi shows up and we go to level Crazy! But we got you guys paid and to the staging area pretty quick, everybody actually read the FAQ, and gave correct change, inside outside. BAM done!

Yeah, Figs (Post#35), that area was cramped... you know why? I turned away 40 cars at the payment gate, and I was packing them in to see if we could let more cars in! = )
