^i actually wouldn't mind coming out to that and a couple of other meets out that way.

I'm just waiting to grow more secure in my current position(job) before planning out any kind of outtings. I'm gonna be lame tho - i'm probably gonna fly in

as much as i love driving the 8 i can't stand driving it in a straight line for too long. The seats are comfortable, the sound system is nice and in combination with the fresh air hitting my face - there's a good chance i'll probably fall asleep at the wheel

bum a ride??

Mike, about the hotels throughout the trip. If you are able to find out which ones we might have to stay at. It might be possible for them to give me a Government discount.

I know a few coworkers that visit out west normally and the hotel rates for Gov employee's are 60% off compared to standard prices.

would be handy, I'll let you know. Only clear one will be on/close to PCH near the CA/OR border. The others will depend on routing and if anyone offers a place to sleep.

Sweet. I know in CA they definitely take off rates for Gov employee's. My coworker just went to LA and stayed in Hollywood at this brand new extremely upscale hotel. Its called W hotel or something. Its 500 per night for a 1 bedroom suite.

He got a double bed for $150....

not to hijack this thread but I would love to trailer the 8 out for that meet my only problem is figuring out what to pull it with.
my SUV doesn't have sufficient towing capabilities and while the GF's Tacoma could do it, it's right at the tow limit so not sure I want to do that for such a long trip.

I need a freakin' Chevy 1500 or something.

/end thread jack.

Thanks! Those sound higher end though, so don't know if we will be looking for a place at one of these, but if we do, Ill let you know

I did get a PM from someone offering a place to crash just east of Cleveland on the trip back. Not sure if the placement is right, but since the trip back is what can shift the most, it is an open possibility.

Using Cleveland as an example:
HiltonGardenInn=79.00
Hampton Inn=69.00

that's pretty much standard for "family" members...too bad I'm not going. I get about $40 at night at most places. Saying that last part doesn't help much tho. Just keep me posted if you do need something.

Yup, will do, thanks for the offer.

Crescent City, CA or Brookings OR is the only spot that I imagine were a hotel will be unavoidable, and most of those rates are in the $60s, except for a Quality and Best Western at $160, and a Hampton at $269.

What could you do with that Hampton?

Hampton Inn
100 "A" Street
Crescent City, California, USA, 95531

is this the one you're talking about? if so I can't even do anything with that place...I'm sure if I spoke with the GM I could swing a few dollars off but it's only showing $215.20 which is outrageous. Who stays at a hampton for that kind of money lol I'm assuming you want a double bed room for your companions but the king size is the same amount.
