FL When to change A/T fluid in S 2

Own 2009 Sport with A/T--is my daily driver. Almost 35,000 miles. When is right time/mileage to change A/T fluid?

Should say in your owner's manual.

Owner's manual says lots of things, some of which members disagree with. Dealerships say other things and again, some member disagree. Was looking for response by someone with experience.

I don't believe the owners manual specifies a change.

Looking at the 2009 Service Highlights, the S2 Auto transmission is essentially the same six speed auto transmissions available in the S1 since 2006.

So I would search the S1 forums and see what maintenance people are doing for those. Also there is a check plug that you could pull out and collect a few drops of transmission fluid and see the color/condition. Just in case people don't know, there is no dipstick.

Another good place for info is the NC Miata forums since they run the same transmission. There is a pretty good write up here:

http://forum.miata.net/vb/showpost.p...4&postcount=61

After reading the info there, I'd probably go for 30,000 mile drain & fill service if I had an automatic. The fluid doesn't seem that expensive and the procedure not too difficult to do yourself. Also make sure you buy the right fluid. JWS3309.

Good luck!
