stick shift moving...

Ok so i just had some transmission work done to 5th and 6th gear due to being out of sync. Got it back today and noticed that no matter what gear im in when i let off the gas even a little the stick shift moves a lot more then it should. Almost seems like it wants to pop out of gear when i let off the gas. Is this because i just had some new parts put in or did the mechanics mess something up?

I sounds like something is loose causing the transmission to shift between engine load and unload, possibly the power plant bar (it connects the transmission to the rear diff).
Is the shifter at the right height, does it also move up and down. If it stays at the same height this is not the problem.

If it does im not to aware of it since i have only driving it for 10-15mins. I'll know more when i drive it back to the dealership. Hope they refund my $105 i paid to get it back. Got to love when things are under warranty.

This might not be the case with yours but if the plastic around the bottom of the shifter melts, it will be wobbly as all get out in neutral.

I figured I'd register and reply because this just happened to me. I had 5th and 6th synchros replaced and a week later it jumped out of 4th on me consistently. Either way, because of the way the "newly re-engineered 5th and 6th synchros fit in there," they (the dealership) replaced the main shaft retaining nut because it apparently didn't hold it all correctly. It still feels like trying to get a stick into a wooden box, but at least 4th doesn't pop out. Hope I helped some.

Oh, '09 r3 with 16k btw.
