Rattle @ high RPM

"Marbles In A Can." As I understand it, it's caused by cavitation in the coolant pump at high RPM, and the sound resonates through the entire coolant system. Restrictors are available to reduce coolant flow to the cabin heater, to prevent the sound you're hearing.
I just tolerate it on my car. I don't hit 9000rpm often enough for it to be an issue.

"It's normal because the engine revs so high." They can walk home if they want.

Thanks for most of your replies. Good info.
It really sounds as though the engine is going to blow up tho. Im not worried because by design its mean to do so but my wife is already a nervous nancy when I rip it and this rattle doesn't do anything to help it. Oh well, nothing I can do.

That seems unlikely, Sugarfree. Hot coolant flows through the heater core at all times, even when the heater is off. The temperature adjustment **** just controls a movable vane that directs a user-specified amount of air through the heater core, to control the final temperature of the air coming out of the vents. The coolant flow through the heater core is not changed by any controls available to the driver.

I'm telling you man I've redlined it consistently in the middle of the night, no radio on from summer to now and I never heard it till I started using the heater. Idk if the setup is like Honda or not with a valve that blocks coolant but I know my car only does it at certain times :-P
