Question Pressure Release after Stopping

New 09 GT owner here so hope this isnt a stupid question.

When I switch off and get out I hear a pump running in the rear end and after a minute or so it stops with a sound of a pressure release venting. It happens about one in 4 times I switch off and if its happening and I switch back on and off again it will stop before the venting.

I was thinking it might be the fuel pump but thought it would be weird to vent like that. I searched but couldn't find anything on the forum. Can anyone educate this noob.

Thanks

Fellow noob here I believe it is for emissions purposes or as you said a pressure relief of some kind.

No problem I just ignore stuff like that unless it keeps running. I am used to that stuff because I worked with my dad on Audi's and Volkswagen's quite a few times when I was off of school and they clicked fuzzes and snapped more than you could imagine

It's probably residual engine vacuum being released. Engine vacuum is used to suck gasoline fumes out of the gas tank.

Thanks fyrstormer but it sounds like an electric pump. Anyway, sounds like its normal so nothing for this new owner to worry about.
Thanks all
