New update

Well the car is still at mazda , they replaced the contoler for the secondary oil pump (oil injectors) now they are getting all sorts of codes. So they are back to thinking bad PCM. So now back to waiting for Mazda Canada.

It feels like my poor car has been in the shop all summer

I've been keeping an eye on this thread, what was the mileage on your car when this happened?

And yes it does suck that your car has been in the shop for so long. They can change the motor in less time

I'm glad your getting a new motor or most likely a remain, but shitty it took 2 months to figure
out.

Did they come up with a solid reason for what happened

From what I was told they just ran out of things to try. so no reason right now on what the cause was.
And ya remain but a s2 ver and I bet their could not have been to many of them done yet. so it might be a end of production one.

As I understand it, oil supply or coolant supply to the throttle body is not for cooling purposes, but for heating purposes. When the outside air is cold and humid, and the throttle valve is mostly closed, the drop in air pressure behind the throttle valve can cause the humidity to freeze into ice inside the throttle body, jamming the throttle valve. Oil flow or coolant flow is provided to keep the throttle body warm enough that it can't ice-up.

Nothing really you can do,they have to complete their work. Hopefully correctly and when they're
complete and everything is fine, let them know how dissapointed you are in their dealership and service department and just move on.

They are ******* it up more than they are fixing it. the oil in intake thing could be just a bad pcv valve for all I know. Its the only thing controlling the pressure in the crank case.

I know that there haven't been any new engines for Series 1 for a while, though I could see Series 2 new engine still in stock somewhere to obtain. Gratz!
