Headlight Issue

Hey guys I have a 2011 R3 and im just wondering if anyone has had this problem or even knows what it is.

when I've been driving for awhile and then I turn on my headlights all my electronics shut off momentarily and my car bogs down and starts again and keeps going like nothing happened...

can someone help me out?

OK...when anyone asks about 'electronics or electrical stuff/issues' can you please tell us IF you have done ANY modifications to your 2011 R3?,
particularly in relation to wiring or plugging in something which is not OE standard equipment.

So I will say yours is bog standard....??

No it is not common for S2's as most of the electrical was updated, like Alternator, Starter, Battery.
As a quickie I would just check Battery terminals clamps for tightness (ground) and battery fluid levels too while you have cover off..

Being a 2011 yours could have night/dusk Auto Headlamps on?
Will it do it during the day..full outside sunlight?

Please PM me your Full VIN so I can try and trace other issues it could be.

the only thing I have done is paint the chrome part black like in the DIY thread but that was over a year ago and this just happened. (it doesnt happen every time, its happened once while driving at dusk and once when it was gloomy out during the day)

if you have a multimeter, get the voltage across the battery. I have seen this behavior in 2 scenarios.

1. The battery is on its way out and under a certain amount of load it shorts, or the terminal connections aren't clean/tight

2. Chassis grounding (there are a few from engine block to chassis, etc) was either corroded, chewed through by critters, or randomly disconnected/removed

According to VIN you don't have Auto Headlamps on/Rain Sensing Wiper package.

I would suggest doing what I said re: Battery terminal clamps/fluid.

Then look at Battery condition, generally a lead acid Battery is not good one day and bad the next, plate degradation (holding charge) is usually slow.

You still have a B2B Warranty...take it to a Mazda Dealer as they have all the latest mandatory Mazda Battery Management Systems testing equipment, which also links to IDS module testing...they should be able to do this while you wait...it is not a long procedure...plug and play.

If it show up the issue you are there to get it rectified, they will have to go through this testing procedure anyway, IF it is a warranty claim.

Good Luck...plz lets us know outcome.
