Does anyone actually change their oil every 5000 miles?

With all that city driving, plus the continuous stop & go... I've been sticking with every 3k miles.

Are you following the method recommended in the owner's manual for checking oil? At least the Series I requires the oil be fully warm before shutting off the engine, then a wait time before checking the dipstick. If the wait time is too short, or the oil is filled while cold to the mark, you will be overfilling! Some of the overfill is likely to end up blown back through the crankcase vent and into the intake manifold.

Dealership charged $31 bucks for oil change, tire rotation, and washed the car. Not bad.
