Catch Can for S2?

Hey guys. Just got my catch can delivered, but maybe I made a huge mistake. I realized that the vacuum lines to the S2 dont seem to be similar to that of the S1. Does this mean that it really isn't necessary to hook up a catch can??

It should not need one. Correct me if wrong I don't know 4 sure. I think it was fixed in 07+ there was a TSB on how to re-route a hose in series 1 so Mazda knew about the problem.

Thought so ... the vac line from the oil valve is actually going to a T fitting which then splits and goes into the side of the motor (?), the line from the intake is actually going down somewhere behind the alternator ...

blah

It's '06+ that they changed it. If the '09-'10 are the same fix, well, chances are you're gonna get oil in there anyhow as I did with my '06. They had it go from the oil neck to like you mentioned, a t-off that connects to the lower intake manifold. I capped them off because I don't want that crap going back down into the engine intake.

Also, there is 1 coming from behind underneath a part under the upper intake manifold, not the upper intake black manifold itself and I figured that to be the root cause of the oil discussing it with other members a while ago as the other 2 connected are the same hook up that is done in '04-'05 that people didn't have oil residue coming from. One connects down to breath from the oil injector valves I believe (not breathing the oil itself) and another behind the intakes and on the engine case itself for breathing IIRC.

I would cap off the one coming from way down below the upper intake manifold, (I forget the part name).

Should be noted here big thing is not to overfill. So bark instructions when you take it in to get it changed not to overfill. I don't know what S2 would take in terms of drain & fill to end up under the line a bit.

Hold ON...There is NO need for a Catch Can for ANY Series 2 (2009~) RX-8..

It has a different set up and there is NO issue with OIL in Intake, etc, etc..
