Bluetooth accessory is killing my battery..

Seems like the easiest way to fix my problem is to somehow configure the Cigarette Lighter to power OFF when the ignition is OFF, like most other cars. I have a bluetooth accessory that connects to the iphone in order to provide audio playback, and control, through the vehicle AUX in. Works great, but when the car is off, the device is sitting there trying to pair with my phone for hours and hours, draining the battery.

Anyone know of a way to change the Power behavior of the Cigarette Lighter in a 2009 GT S2?

unplug you 12V acc. when you turn off the car? the 12v outlet are constantly On, key in or out. unless you re-wire the outlets to have only power from the key on position. its up to you to decide wich is simpler, unplug or rewire.

edit: "most other cars" uses this same fonctionality of constant power to the 12v. aux. outlets

The Cig Lighter is On or Off with Ignition On or OFF...

OP are you not confusing Cig Lighter with 12V Outlet in Console as wazup says?..

So IF you wired into Cig Lighter (above Gear Lever, PUSH the little door flap, to see Cig Lighter) supply wire you WILL have a switched BT device.

IMO you have been using the 12V always ON supply socket under the Consoles sliding lid??

Ahh yes, I am using the one in the rear part of the arm console.. that is the cleaner installation, but also more difficult to plug and unplug. Any chance that one can be changed to OFF with ignition?

Yes like Ash said, Run a good size wire from the power of the Cigar lighter (under de radio unit) to the 12v outlet in the arm rest console. we Can try and do a little DIY, but simply put, the center console will have to come out and find wire colors for the 12v / grounds

a good start here

cigar lighter removal: http://foxed.ca/rx7manual/2003mazdar...067000W01.html

aux. 12v outlet removal: http://foxed.ca/rx7manual/2003mazdar...066290W01.html

center console removal: http://foxed.ca/rx7manual/2003mazdar...764271W01.html

wiring info: "Usualy" ground will be black and the powers should have a red stripe, I cant find the info right now, ill update if I get my hand on it.

so you should Tap into the 12V of the cigar lighter, run the wire up to the Aux. socket, cut the wire and tap the rerouted wire to the connector.
