Any Engine Problems with Series II RX-8??
Has anyone who owns a 2009 or 2010 RX-8 Series II had any engine problems to date??
Have been looking in Archives and other forums, maybe not in the right place.
If anyone can shed some light, that would be great!

Well, he's obviously young and excited about the prospect of owning a new RX-8. We can cut him a little slack.
Concur tho', too many similar threads. Perhaps we can curb same by stating the obvious. If he truly plans to buy new, and he's a North American resident, then he'll be availed of the 8 yr/100k mile engine core warranty. So why the engine problem concern? If it does go bad (and most are still strong, including my 2005) he'll get a new one. What could be better than that?

I have an 09 with about 12,000 miles (not driven in the winter, purchased March 18, 2009). Absolutely no problems with the engine so far, but I certainly wouldn't expect any, either. The car's been fantastically reliable so far, and I love it. I plan to keep mine for a very long time.

well, we know there is no one at the moment have an issue with the engine. but does r3 will need to be re-built like the old rx8 ? will the r3 engine has more durability then the old 1 ?

It's reasonable to be concerned with the engine reliability-over-time of any vehicle you are researching for potential purchase.
It is unreasonable to infer that there is some need to rebuild the engines in the "old" RX-8 (series I presumed). Whereas there have certainly been engine failures, no one here knows the operational availability (Ao) ratio. One could logically make an argument that it must be statistically significant or Mazda would not have increased their [North American] engine core warranty to 8 yrs/100k miles.
Given the 3rd oil injector on the Series 2 engines plus a number of lesser changes (which includes all R3's) one could also logically postulate that the reliability would be higher.
No one here can give you, or the OP, a concrete answer, as we simply don't have the historical data. All we can render are our personal experiences. Mine is very positive btw, which I like to think is in some measure thanks to my maintenance regimen.

as in any car, you could by a lemon car right from the lot, it doesn't mean the whole line of car is bad. Beside you have 4yrs 50,000 miles factory warranty to decide if the car is a keeper or not. You could also buy a extended warranty for it if you are worried about it.

Mazda dropped the 4 year/50,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty years ago. It's now the more typical 3 year/36,000 mile warranty. My 2005 Mazda3 had the 4 year warranty, which was nice to have. But at least there's the 8 year warranty on the drivetrain for the RX-8.

Even the Spec II's? I've got a 2009 I bought new, I thought I had about the usual bumper to bumper and something 5/50-ish for powertrain. Do I really have a 8/XXX and didn't know it, or is this a more recent thing?

I meant to also add a counterpoint that perhaps the Renesis reliability is actually so good that Mazda extended the core warranty to 8y/100k projecting that relatively few would need same, and yet it would be seen as a positive marketing discriminator. [probably not, but nice thought] Only Mazda knows for sure.
