I thought each dot means half a quart?

I dont think its quite that much, I guess I will have to check next time I pour. Best bet is drop 0.125 in there and then check.

I was gonna say...

...but I didn't have to. Each dimple is half a quart. Two dimples is a whole bottle. Stay on-top of your oil a bit more often.

I figure when the low oil light comes on Its about 1.5L down and at the Last dot on the dip stick, when Its half way 3/4 L puts its right on the full spot.

I found the light would come on under hard braking when its only 0.5qt low sometimes.

I drive a lot which causes me to burn much of the oil (I premix as well) and sometimes I use the light as an indication for an change oil which get's me close to 3,500 miles by that time; otherwise, I'd add about 200-350 ml if I'm close to low.

"Cough" series II section

anyways, you wait for the light to come one for your oil change? 3.5k seems a bit late for a change. i do mine every 2.5-3k and top off generously. [have a catch can just in case]

I was just waiting for that... Anyway, SAMO* We all go through the same routine to check for our oil levels at every fill -ups.

You know why dashbord indicators are also called "idiot lights", right? The same reason why there's a Low Fuel indicator right next to the freaking fuel gauge -- because SOME people (I won't say who) won't do anything to their car until something pops up and says "FIX THIS RIGHT NOW".
