Series II Nav system

So I talked to the dealership about getting a navi in the 2010 rx8 r3 and they wanted to charge me $4950.00 just for the unit!!! however, they said that if i brought them the navi unit myself and had them install it, the warranty wouldnt be void. so my question is, does anyone know of a place where i can get the stock navi unit, or any other ideas? thanks

My guess is you might be able to find it around, but I wouldnt' get my hopes up for findin it for less then 3-4k seeing as it's from mazda that everyone is going to be getting it.

but isuspect their cost is somewhere in the neighborhood of 2.5 -3k. offer 2950.

Yep, even the factory nav in my bosses 180k CL65 blows. I like Garmin but currently use a Magellan I am totally happy with. Oh and it's Piano black and silver (which is the real reason I picked it and ditched my NUVI)

i'm not clear on why your warranty would be void. the warranty on the nav would be void, but that's it. but you'd get a warranty with an after market.

I need to keep the warranty because money is just so tight right now that i cant be paying to fix things that could be fixed for free.

but it would just be the warranty on the navigation that is void, not the warranty on the rest of the car's components. "warranty act of 1981" or something like that.

Whats the deal with the Nav? It says "NOT a gps!" but isnt that basically what it is? What could it possibly do thats better than a regular gps that talks to you and shos routes and all that.

gps stands for Global Positioning Satellite or something like that, maybe it uses different technology. also i talked to the guy whos selling me the car and he said he will put a nav into it for 2000. He is actually very helpful.

Not to be an a-hole, but there is no way they can void your warranty for having a nav system installed.
