Holy cow. Can that MX-5 steering wheel be fitted to the RX-8?

Autoexe makes Rx8 S1 and S2 specific steering wheels.

This is mine.

thank you. I really appreciate it. I noticed that the one one the website has only buttons on one side, whereas other pictures has both.

it must be the happiest thing to have in terms of having to touching that on a day-to-day basis. even stock is really good, so, that Sport one has to be mine.

it has Nothing to do with an MX-5 steering wheel. it's compatible with the S2 series, as well as any recent Mazda you can think of.

Where is the Airbag located, though?

In the middle it. Behind the Mazda logo.

Is there any way of retrofitting the MX-5 steering wheel to our RX-8s? It looks way sexier than ours.

You won't have any issues with the airbag or electronics. Make sure you get the right wheel--I bought my S2 wheel from MazMart. I installed mine just the other week, and I love the feel. It was a huge upgrade from stock. I posted pictures and a link to a good installation video in the interior mods section.

How is the leather on your Autoexe steering wheel holding up?

Is the wheel smaller? Different ergonomics? Or is it mostly for looks? I find it kind of funny that their website makes absolutely zero attempt to sell the product.

I don't think it's smaller but I can measure. But it's flat bottom and just feels great in your hands.

This page actually does a much better job describing the product.

AutoExe:ENGLISH

Looks like they're the same diameter by design. Might have to go on my todo list somewhere.

Do you have to transplant the airbag from the old steering wheel?

AutoExe at Mazmart

I usually keep these in stock. The Series I is in my building now, ready to ship today while Series II may be less than 2 weeks to be at your door.

MAZMART - Serving The Mazda Community Since 1980 | New & Used Mazda Parts | Mazda Performance & Racing parts | Mazda Performance Upgrades. Steering Wheel

They are a little thicker and have thumb grips and flat bottom. The leather quality is better than stock as well.
