More stable IAT on track.

Never dyno'd it but would expect zero gain over the factory box. I assume the RX8 would be the same.

OP, if you perceive a benefit and like the change then more power to you. Modding is subjective and part of being an enthusiast.
Nah, butt dyno noticed nothing lol. But the ears did, and it's very, very good lol. And apparently according to my friend following me, bigger flames lmao. Supposedly you get better throttle response but if there is, it's barely noticable.

The loss of restriction behind the radiator makes up for any increase in restriction in front of it.

Said another way, any air that's in front of the snorkle has nowhere to go except into the radiator, or into the intake -- and the stock intake takes an equivalent amount of air from the same airstream.
amount of the air that gets to radiator overall might remain the same but its distribution over radiator surface will be very different and not in a good way.

less than one third of the air arriving in front of the radiator will effectively flow across the core...
The rest will flow around the obstacle....

there is a reason the rad is so far back, angled and has foam around it acting like a cup the catch all the air.... it won't matter if you have a straw laying on top of the cup it will still catch the same amount

That assumes a square block in open air, not a round shape in a constrained high pressure space. The low pressure turbulent area behind the obstacle will be compressed by high pressure air around it. With the speeds, pressures and air volumes we are talking about, it's a non-issue, we're not building jets here. You can test it yourself by putting a line of clean material (paint, fabric, etc) across the rad and see if it's less dirty behind the intake after some time.

Also there is no evidence in real world use, that I'm aware of, that this intake noticeably degrades cooling performance.

I gave up on the block-the-radiator-in blockheads a long time ago. They understand everything, yet nothing.

[QUOTE=DannyR3;4909284]crazy to think the 8 is considered old. My car is turning 10 this year which means it's averaged 1200 miles a year.

As far as opinion goes, it's the same on the STI, Supra, Lotus and GTI forums... well, not the GTI forums. They're mostly idiots. Love the car, it's my daily, but goddamn the community is awful.[/QUOTE

Yep just an internet thing. Take a look at the focus rs forum once. Mine came in the very first shipment so I was the first one on the forum to have the car in hand. Had a full build done on it and took a break front he forum. 6 months later I posted and was called all sorts of names till someone pointed out my build. Lol
To the original post I’m glad you posted as I have been toying with the idea of intake and know no real go is to be had. But like the idea and the way it looks. Sound is an added bonus also so thanks for the post. if you couldn’t tell I’m brand new to the rx8 world so trying to play catch up on what can be done.
