Actually .... problem fixed .....

Just painted the pieces with High Temp paint, worked great .... looks great ! Very easy and simple solution if you're having melting issues.

I was wondering about that also. I didn't think the high temp paint would do anything to help. I don't have the AP exhaust yet so no melting for me, but soon I may be getting it.

Does your drivers side tip stick out a little more than the passengers side?

yes it does, just a tad bit, hardly noticeable, i was actually going to ask the installer about that. Did you have the same issue or just noticed from the pic ?

Same here, about a half inch difference. Still working on the best solution, I have access to a pipe bender but this pipe is stiff and does not want to bend nice. I figured out the hanger situation, so this is next after Mazda fixes my seats.

I know kinda off topic, but what are you getting Mazda to fix with your seats? If it's the chaffing let me know how you went about it. On a different note thanks for the info about the AP exhaust guys. Making me look more seriously at it over a RB one now.

No you do not need a aftermarket header to install an exhaust, a cat back only and you wont be toughing bolts near the header anyway. if you wanna get one go ahead though it can't hurt. :P

On the Recaro seats, the plastic inserts at the top are separating due to the plastic tabs on the inside braking. I didn't notice until one fell out while I was driving, and when I got home and looked three out of the four are coming apart

Read this thread, if you can fit the ap which is not made for the s2 then you can fit any s1 exhaust with the same method.

I have a question that maybe someone here can answer.
I just installed an Agency Power Exhaust for my 05 RX8. The check engine light went on and it says that the rear O2 sensors don't read. I still have the OEM cat. Should I install it to make the check engine light go away? Will it be a problem if I only swap the cat? Thanks guys I appreciate it. I didn't realize I had to do inspection when I swapped the exhaust.

I you switch back to the factory cat I would guess the light will go off .... i have the same problem on my '09 but have never tried it without the AP Midpipe . Dynotronics says the sell a piece that takes care of this issue. And no it's not the cheap spacer option, something different, said it works really well into tricking the system into thinking the factory cat is still there. I think he said it's like 150 or so.

Idk if I should try getting the OEM exhaust...take off the sensor off my OEM cat, OR buy a new sensor that'll cost me 150 .. -_- I might as well leave the whole car stock! that's no fun. stupid inspection!

What I plan on doing is just reinstalling the cat when inspection comes, and then putting the midpipe back on after that.

You should be getting a cel like p0420 which would say catalyst efficiency something, what is the cel your getting? If it is that one thats normal with the midpipe. You can buy a cobb access port from MazdaManiac and that will let you get rid of the cel and you would be able to pass obd2 inspection just not the sniffer test if you have it.

The person I was replying to had an 05 which it most definitely does work on, but yes it will not work on 09+.

Godess don't get your hopes up about a new series 2 exhaust, and the exhaust is only $650 and that includes the midpipe. If you want it just install it one of the many ways listed in this thread.

Does this "really" change or help in the RX-8's performance or just add a different sound or more noise...??

You see I am a strong believer Mazda have got their Rotary Exhaust Systems fine tuned to get the best out of their rotaries..

They spend many many hours ($$$'s) on tuning it correctly and making the system the best.

Just installing any system does not mean it is better,... better spin and marketing perhaps.

Sorry, I am yet to be sold on any of the so called benefits..
