i have a series 1 with the agency exhaust + mid-pipe. heres my little take on it, when it was first installed it was completly loud.; but over time the sound started to muffle out a little. now that i am a turbo the sound is completely lower. but i love it and the sound of it as well.

How many exhaust hangars do I need to buy of the above if I get the AP exhaust? Anyone know, I just ordered 1 now I'm worried I may need more...

Thanks,
Scott

Any dual exit exhaust should need 2 hangers and judging by the picture from the OP on the first page, this one is no exception.

Thanks for the info...

I tried to get them to ship me two at the same time unfortunately it was too late... so for a $10 part I paid about $40 in shipping... brutal... either way this will hopefully allow the AP exhaust I'm about to buy to fit nicely...

It should fit pretty good from the pictures I saw. I just wonder if it hangs low enough not to melt the bumper/shrouds.

Sorry I should have looked on here sooner, but you will need four adjustable hangers to position the exhaust. I used the middle hole in front of the muffler and the bottom hole behind. My exhaust shrouds are still fine

Wow 4 lol, never seen that before. I guess the exhaust is braced up there much better than any other car I had in the past though. Sorry about that scotty, didn't figure it would need 4.

Just to give you a heads up the poly hangers may need to be drilled to fit the larger diameter metal parts on the car and on the exhaust. If they do need to be drilled find a bit the exact size or slightly smaller than the metal parts of the exhaust. It will be tight but that is what you want, I had to lube mine after drilling and still it was a huge pain getting them on the barbed ends of the car, had to use a huge pair of adjustable pliers. If the holes are drilled too big everything will be loose and move around, so take your time measure twice and drill once.

Yikes - I'm having the a shop do the work... so I'll give them the heads up. I would do it myself but I don't have any means of getting my car off the ground and no garage...

I hope you trust them to do minor fabrication. I don't like anyone touching my car that is why I didn't just take it to an exhaust shop and have them cut and weld the hangers, which would have been cheaper than the over seas shipping I'm sure.

If its just the Poly hangers that need some modification then I'm fine having these guys do the work... I'll stay close so they don't screw up. Is everything else simply a bolt-on?

Took about a week to get my mounts, I was actually surprised that they got to me so quickly from over seas. I tried it both ways, but I like the extra noise and flames from no cat.

So I had Joe aka R.P.M. on this forum, do the install, we figured we'd give it a go without the adjusted hangers. Sure enough we couldn't even get the AP exhaust to fit on the stock hangers. So we settled with just doing the Mid-pipe and leaving the stock catback on. I'm hoping these hangers come in soon and hopefully they provide enough clearance!

Were you able to get the AP Exhaust on with the stock exhaust hangers? If so how?? We would have had to bend the hangers quite a bit to get them into the stock hangers.

I gotta say the AP midpipe added quite a bit of extra bark to the stock catback exhaust...

For the s1 rx8s there were little metal inserts made for the exhaust shroud that protected it from heat. I don't know where you had to buy them at, or if any were made for the s2 though but you can try looking around.

You might check some japanese sites like r-magic or re amemiya, they all seem to have quite a bit more products for the s2 rx8 than we can get here.

Another thought would be the shapes don't seem to be that different on the s1 exhaust shrouds, maybe the exhaust finishers could be cut and coaxed into fitting the s2 shroud?
