Mike 0615..make sure you make all your measurements first! Try measuring from the top of the fender to the ground..my measurements are going to be different from yours...
Front Left Front Right
693mm 695mm
Back Left Back Right
681mm 689mm
Here are the measurments after the installation:
Front Left Front Right
657mm 655mm
Back Left Back Right
658mm 661mm
This setting will put you at a one finer gap from the wheel fender to the ground...

Thanks for the help, i got the fronts in, but couldn't finish the backs. did u have to fold the back seats down and remove the rear speakers to get the rear coilovers in?

nope..didn't have to do that...didn't touch the speaker or the rear seat....also....about the rear damper setting controller, make sure you place them at a somewhere, where it is easily accesible....good luck!

man, my friend installed them, but he didn't put the damper controll in the rears cuz the instructions where in japanese. i wasn't there to tell them it needed to be on. u think we gotta take the rear coilovers off the put the controllers on? oh yeah, which way do i turn to set the damper to hard and which way goes soft? sorry for all the stupid quesitons, just excited about my new coilovers. if u have a site with installation instrucitons that would be dope. if not its cool, thanks for ur help so far.

I just read through the whole thread, I have to say the product is really good. Congrats.
XDEEDUBBX may I ask if there are any weight saving with this coilover? It might sound stupid, but I know that they are made from aluminium in order to be lighter, so I wonder what the difference would be from stock... I have some other question too, can I pm you?
Thanks

Got ur PM dub, thanks a million. yeha, i gotta meet u up at the next rx8 meet. these coilovers make a world of difference. i can't wait to take them out to the track.its what i originally ordered them for but they didn't arrive in time. my friend drives a FC RX7 turbo 2. he just got some JIC coilovers for them and i can tell u this, one of his coilovers was as heavy as all four of mine. no bullshit man. HKS made some pretty light stuff. i just hope their strong too. :p these HKS work so well i don't even brake anymore, i just turn. :D even though they corner much better then stock suspension, the ride is just about the same. u really don't feel like u gave up that much in terms of ride comfort. i have my front set to 26 stiffness and my backs are on default, cuz i haven't installed the rear damper controller yet.... but that will change soon. then i can really open up and test these babies. here are some pics of me and my car at the last track event i went too, hope u guys will enjoy them.

Nice to hear it. did you had a chance to compare weights with the stock spring/shock?
and one more stupid question: I had adjustable shocks in my previouw car (konis yellow) and the rear ones were a pain to reach them in order to adjust their stiffness. What about your coilovers in the 8??
Thanks

The rear damper is adjustable from ur trunk. u need to install what they call a remote damper controll. basically its just one metal wire attached to each coilover damper controll ****, u then turn the metal wire instead of reaching for the damper *** on the coilover itself. pretty neat stuff.

hello again guys
sorry to revive an old thread but I'm a few clicks away from ordering my HKS coilovers...
so I had to ask a few more things:
1.how comfortable is the ride with this suspension at the softer setting? I mean, compared to stock...
2.is it possible to adjust the spring pre-load?
Thanks

The ride i have is very comfortable. No rubbing at all. I have my dampers set at a soft setting so it feels close to stock. I advise you to install the suspension first then start adjusting them so you can choose your desired height.

Finally I got my hands on those coilovers... thanks you guys for aswering all the questions for me I have to admit it is an amazing product. I got some pics too. Notice that the wheel stays up while the car lifted. I got them installed just like they came from the factory and the ride dropped about 4.8cm (~1.9inches) maximum drop allowed I think...
I'm still experimenting with stiffness and ride height. Riding so low can be dangerous, damaging the car probably, but it feels great, it's so responsive now. Rear end is planted on the ground, but getting the car to drift is fun too...
what I don't get is that they say there are 30 settings, why am I counting 34 for the left front damper and 38 for the right one any ideas?

RotorManiac,
As long as you start full clock-wise and start counting backwards evenly, you should be fine. Anything past 30 clicks shouldn't change the valving anymore.
I hope this helps!

hey FE3P, of course that helped
actually I started counting from full anti-clockwise (wanted to start testing at the softest setting) and moved it clock-wise day by day to make the suspension more stiff. Should I stop when I hit number 30 or I definately have to go the other way you describe?? Sorry, I know it sounds stupid but...
Thanks
p.s. oh, by the way, we got the same taste man! black 8, appearance package, supercat and I'm waiting for my ce28volks

well thanks guys
Mike: yeah, it is low now. actually rear end is lower. I don't want that so either I'll lift the rear 0.5-1cm or drop the front little more I will experiment on this and see what's best, but I'm leaning towards the first option... hey, you are close to 10k posts! wow!
XDEEDUBBX: thanks, you helped a lot, when I couldn't decide which coilover to buy. I've gone up to middle stiff and loved it even more. Still have to check full 'stiffness' (is this word correct?) but left rear damper control seems not to be working I'll drop the coilover to see if it's loose or something... I'll let you know.
oh, and the volks, I'll get them by the end of June:o at Rays Engineering they take their time...
bmkarr: teins are good, but HKS are more hardcore suspension and made from better material, that's why they are lighter than stock. a friend of mine has the teins and said they felt heavier than stock. EDFC is cool though...
its hard to get lots of horsepower in the 8 and I hate adding weight. making the car lighter is what I think its best for performance, hence the titanium catback, the HkS, the volks and so on...
