I paid $134 each for size 215/55VR-17 for my M3s, plus $16 each for road hazard protection. I paid $129 each for ASA JH3 rims.

 

I debate the winter tire vs. winter beater issue annually. Last winter I picked up a 1997 Cavalier for under $800, my teenager now has that as his daily driver. This fall, I once again went for a beater, a 1998 Dodge Avenger for $1100. Here in Minnesota, like other parts, you need to decide if the sand, salt, ice, pot holes and other drivers all slipping along together are worth the risk with your 8.

Does your car have the bigger brakes? I guess some 17s won't fit with the bigger brakes and those are the ones I was looking at.

 

Yes, I have the bigger brakes. Another member had the ASA JH3 rims, so I know for sure that they fit. However, TireRack also preselected only the rims that fit the 8, so you can be pretty confident that the 17s that they offer there will work.
