Not necessary but some people recommend them.

What is squirling? Almost all aftermarket rims have a bigger hub than on the rx8. It is so that the wheels will fit on more cars. The people didn't tell you to buy a center hub, they told you to get hub rings (preferably metal) that go inside the wheels hub to fill in the difference. I don't have any on my wheels and I haven't had a problem, though I'm sure someone out there had vibrations or something.

If you torque the wheels correctly they are not needed...

i'm sure others know better, but from pers experience i would recommend them. my gf's mazda 3 had aftermarket wheels when we bought it, everything was fine until we hit 65mph...major vibration in the steering wheel. ended up getting oem wheels for her car, and when the peeps were mounting them, they found 3 wheels with hub rings and one (in the front) without a ring...like whoever installed them missed one or something! i can't say that IS what caused the vibration, but w/ the oem wheels we don't have it anymore, so, take that for whatever it's worth i guess...

correct: having the rings will help against vibration.

lets hope so.
if not, many tire installation companies can help you figure out the size and order them for you. (then just return the ones you already bought if they are the wrong size)
