If you guys had a choice between these tires which one would you choose because I need new tires. I drive a lot sometimes sprited driving; love the twisties when I find them.

If you are in Georgia I'm wondering why you are pointing out a bunch of all season tires. I would go for a Falken Azenis RT-615 or new Toyo T1R or Kumho Ecsta MX

 

I love my Eagle F1's. 225-40-18 front and 245-40-18 rear.

But I love to get the Yokohama Advan AD07 *(you guys have them in the US). Every single show car with street tyres has one set of those.

Extremely popular and say publically by Best Motoring Japan as one of the best

Also I would like to try the Potenza RE-01R, which is rated the same by the Japanese.

For R tyres.

There are 3 brands that very popular by trackies.

Yokohama A048
Bridgestone RE55S
Dunlop D02G.

 

I have Yoko's on at the moment.

I'm pretty sure I will give the Nankang NS2's a go next time.

I have toyo RA-1's on my Solara right now, overkill, hell yes, fun, also, hell yes.

 

Okay so the most I've seen from you guys is the Toyo T1 and the Kumho. My only reserve with the Kumho is I want to keep the same treadlife if possible. I'm pushing 20K on the stock set and that's why I'm looking into new rubber. Thanks for all your help/suggestions.

 

Then the Toyo T1R might be the best bet for you (Treadlife of 280). I have the Toyo T1S on my car right now, put about 4,000 miles on them with no appreaciable wear. Check out www.edgeracing.com. Located in Florida, so you would get them nice & fast.

 

One other thing to consider is availability. I had a hell of a time looking for the Kumhos, and ended up with another set of Falkens. I got 215 Azenis from discount tire, last of their batch, since the 615's are out. I ended up paying around 105 per tire on the car.

If you haven't tried the Azenis, you should give them ago. I got about 10k miles on the street, and 7 track days on my Evo. And I am HARD on tires, but no so much now that I have the c/o's on the car. I think the 245's are about 160 per, not too bad for a 245. Great sidewall, and grip for days. Closest thing I can find to a R compound, that will still hold up well on the street. The 615's don't get greasy like the 215's did either, which is added bonus.

However, I have heard great things about the Toyos too, so they may be the better route.

 

I've looked into everyone's suggestions and think I'm going to go with the Toyo T1R's. They look very promising and should fit my driving style and the types of weather I face. I appreciate everyone's input and will try to remember to update whenever I buy and install. For the Toyo T1R's I'm getting the tires, install, and balance for $719 even. I think that's a steal compared to other tires I've looked into. Thanks again!!!

 

Just as a correction to the above post. None of the tires listed (Dunlop Direzza DZ101, Kumho ECSTA SPT, Pirelli PZero Nero, Fuzion ZRi) are all season. They are all summer only performance tires.

You guys changed around your classifications a bit. The Pirelli PZero Neros used to be listed as Ultra High Performance All Season (or at least 3 season). In their lineup they have the Pirelli P Zero system & Pirelli P Zero Rossos. Also you have listed the BF Goodrich Comp TA KDW's as a summer tire, when they are supposed to have the KD's filling in that role. The KDW stands for Dry & Wet traction. Over at Edge Racing the Nero's are listed as a UHPAS tire, & it has a Mud & Snow rating. I'm sure you wouldn't want to be driving on these on 6 inches of powder, but at the same token, I'm not sure they would be in the class of a dedicated, max traction summer only tire.

 

Well it's looking as if I'm not going to get the T1R's because they're on back-order so I will probably go with the Proxes 4 unless I find something I like better. Talk w/ you fellas later!

 

I love my Advan Neova AD07's....once the compounds are warmed up these tyres stick like glue, even in the wets. Best part is the enhanced braking. They can take anything you can throw at them on the streets, but I'm yet to get onto a track and really test them out. The only negative is the slightly increased road noise, but when driving hard (read fun) they just add to the experience

I have both Kumho ASX's (all season) and MX's....

The MX's are like glue on a track......they are my primary track tire, mounted on a second set of wheels.

For grins, I ran RA on the ASX's one weekend. First day was cold, second day warmed up 15-20 degrees...On the cold day, the tires aren't very grippy until they are very warm, made the car very tail happy (that, and the fact that I got rear ended on the way to the track and the toe got knocked waaaaaaay out of line...but that 's another story). On the warmer day, they were very close to the OEM bridgstone for grip that I had run on the track before. The ASX's have a treadwear of something like 420 vs 240 for the MX's. I use the ASX's as my daily tire and with 14k and one track weekend, they are wearing very, very well. They are much better rain tires than the OEM's were and God knows they are a much quieter tire than the OEM's (but what isn't).

I'd buy both again. Unfortunately, I read somewhere (Grass Roots Motor Sports Mag...I think..), that the MX's are a little long in the tooth and Kumho has a newer technolgy replacement and the MX may be replaced in the next year. I know when I got mine, Tire rack was having a sale on them....hmmmmm....and it took a while to get. If I can find another set, I'm all over em....
