The 595RSR is probably going to be my next tire. plenty of other forums say good thing about them. I do think the Hankook RS-3 are better, but they are also more money. Just depends on what you want to spend. Any of the listed tires will probably meet your needs.

This right here is the problem. In the same thread, you're looking at the Kumho Ecsta AST and the Hankook Ventus RS-3. A ~420 treadwear rating all season vs. a ~140 treadwear rating street legal track tire.

This is not the way you go about doing this.

You need to pick a class of tire you want depending on your driving style and usage scenario. The two tires above are COMPLETELY in separate corners and cannot be compared. You understand this, right?

How often does your car see an AutoX event or trackday? Lets start there.

Did you find the Bridgestone RE760 or Kumho LE Sport on any of the sites? I think either one of these will work great for you intentions. They should also be well within your price range..... and take that money saved and put it into suspension and wheels.

If you bargain around you can probably get better prices on those.
I'm not sure where you are located but I've seen those hankook V12's go for around $160 each for 245/40/18s.

I bargained with Discount Tire Co and got Michelin Pilot Super Sports 245/40/18s, with tax & installation, lifetime balances & rotations for $1,000 and a $100 rebate.

DestLuck is in Canada, so they have extra fees to consider for costs. I have no idea why tires are so expensive in Canada.

I thought they might be cheap enough for him that any additional fees included would still be in his price range

have you done any more research on these?

BB showed me these tires last year, they certainly are sexy!

let me know if your research was any different but what i read was....

the tires have massive amounts of grip without needing to be heated up
the tires however dont take heat well
a few tires can develop splits horizontally in the tread
its hard to find good reviews that are strictly daily driven but i found somewhere online with a s2000 saying that they lasted around 15-20k miles down to the bars however most of the reviews said they lasted about 10-15k
the tires arent great in the wet.

i want to get these RS-R's or the R1R's as a dedicated set for just when i want to go mountain driving.

Those comments generally align with what I have read about the 595RS-R. The biggest issue I have with them is the tread block design (side blocks have too many grooves). I currently have Kumho XS mounted as my summer tires and I do the occasional track day and autocross with them. I know the Federals will be a downgrade compared to the Kumhos, but they are also a ton cheaper.

OnlineTires has them for $140 each in 265/35R18, and then $70 shipping for four:
595 RS-R RACING - OnlineTires.com

You can only do so much forum searching and reading about tires before you need to just give them a try. Tire are extremely application dependant, and finding someone with a similar car, similar application, and similar driving style is near impossible. If you get them, be sure to provide some feedback to everyone on what you think of them. I plan on doing the same when I replace the Kumhos.

Getting my Hankook Ventus V12 Evos on today. After searching up a lot of tires in the same price range, the Hankooks seem to be the best of value and performance. Don't forget to fill out your rebate form to get $80 back!

I find every tire questionnaire thread to be hilarious. Half the people that respond are completely biased towards one brand of tire just because they had a good experience from that one time tire buying with that brand (not even specific model or class of tire).

Like jcrane said, you have to do your own research and thread through the biased BS on various forums.

Just my opinion. It is a sports car, not a Cadillac. It is your car though, so do what you want.
