what will happen?

I am ordering the Kazera KZ-V's and Blizzaks (LM-22) for the winter. What will happen if I want to save $400 and skip the TPMS? I have been all around the site and can't find a definite answer.

I read somewhere...

... that the dash light will stay on. I haven't read that there will be any other concerns.

Good question, others will reply who have more experience with this...

This was discussed last year, so it's on the forum somewhere. Actually, here's one of many threads: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-wheels-tires-brakes-suspension-55/what-happens-if-tpms-wheel-units-not-installed-13045/

The TPMS warning light will flash constantly if you don't have the TPMS sensors installed (it's in the owner's manual). This annoys some people, others say they are not bothered by it, and some just put tape over it .

I did not want to deal with a flashing yellow light, especially at night, so I forked the the $$$ for the sensors.

Ordered the Kazera KZ-T's with Dunlop M3's. I got the sensors as well. Didn't feel like hacking a brand new card to bypass both the warning buzzer (I'm told it goes off once then stops for the remainder of the trip) and the warning light (I'm told it continues to warn throughout the duration of the trip).

Was thinking of going with the KZ-V's in the light grey. Once you mount them, toss a picture in the forum.

Just to make sure the obvious is not being overlooked, the sensors are not there just to make light and noise -- their considerable cost is considered worthwhile by Mazda (and in future will be required in all US cars) as a safety feature. If you don't have them and a tire dangerously loses pressure but does not instantly blow out, the sensor warning could, possibly, save your life. And with no spare, it may also save lots of inconvenience in less extreme situations.

Granted, all this is a very long shot, especially if you check tire condition and pressure frequently and replace before getting too close to the end of the tires' life. But you are giving up a safety feature if you skip the sensors.
