I just got my RX-8 about a week ago and I see people talking about not being able to get certain wheels due to TPMS. Can I get a little help at understanding what it is. Thanks.

The TPMS system is composed of 4 little sensors (1 per wheel) that send a radio-signal alert to a receiver if they detect that the pressure in each tire is outside of a certain range of values. I think they alert (by sounding a beeper and turning on a light in the gauge cluster) if the tire falls below 25 PSI or is inflated above 45 PSI. Not sure of the exact values, but that's the gist of it.

My tire inflation is fine, and that damn light always goes on and flashes anyway.

Has anyone ever verified that the TPMS just sends when the pressure is outside of the range, versus the TPMS sending data constantly and the ECU determining whether or not the tire was low?
