What Shocks Should I Get?

SORRY I MEANT SPRINGS, NOT SHOCKS!!!

I have been debating on whether to get aftermarket springs or not. However, my 8 is my daily driver so I do not want to get springs with a big drop.

What brand/type of springs are out there that can give me better performance and a bit of a drop without being too low?

Shocks should not affect ride height. To change your ride height you want springs.

That said, Koni Yellows do seem to drop a tad lower than say Tokico Dspecs.

Lol I am sorry Koni and Dspecs are both shocks not springs I was still assuming you meant shocks.

Racing Beat and Tein H tech are two springs that will not drop your car that much

But I just noticed the Racing Beat springs, but I haven't started looking at Tein's yet, but I have heard good things about Tein.

Racing Beat all the way.

When change springs change shocks at the same time.

Ok, here is my next question:

What is the difference between Shocks + Springs compared to Coilovers?

(I apologize now if this is a n00b question)

You don't need coil overs unless your going to track it.

Coil overs have the spring included.

Ok that is what I figured. Plus I don't have $1,000+ to dish out for them.

If you don't want to lower it, stay on the cheap, consider a set of sway bars instead of springs.

What brand of sway bars can you recommend?

sways would do much more performance wise than a set of springs.

Any brand will work. I personally have Progress which offer the most roll stiffness and are adjustable, but I've ridden in cars with Tanabe Sways and Racing Beat Sways. Can't go wrong with any of them.

Also, its not good to get just springs, and not aftermarket shocks because the stiffer spring rates of aftermarket springs will wear down your OEM shocks faster since they were not valved to handle stiffer springs.

So what is the difference between getting Coilovers and getting Shocks + Springs?

usually height and dampening adjustability. except tein basics which only adjust height.

aftermarket shocks for the 8 allow dampening adjustability but height is dependent on the spring.

You will most likely blow your stock shocks out if you change springs only

So is there a price difference between getting new Shocks + Springs and getting new Coilovers?

Koni's ~$700+springs ~$200 Total $900

Coilovers $900-$4500

I see lol. And would it be ideal to get the same brand of Shocks and Springs or does it really matter?

Should not matter. The shock mfgr's for the most part don't make or even supply springs except for their coil over kits.
