What to do??

So now that you've all helped turn me into a semi 'car guy' I have the itch to install something.

I am really interested in making the car less flexi and maybe add some growl from the exhaust (but nothing loud, farty or silly)

My first throughs were a rear strut bar and maybe something like a Lower Arm bar (6 point??)

Rear strut HAS to be one that lays flat on the trunk floor. I don't want to give up trunk space becasue I often use my entire trunk to carry stuff.

I have NEVER done anything like this with a car before.

Are installing such things easy?

I don't want anything gaudy looking. Simple is better for me. Things need to be paintable also because I want blue bars to match the front one.

I saw suspension and thought it made sense...

Should it have been under exterior?

Sorry...

Yes, the flat trunk brace is pretty easy. There's a small amount of liner cutting for mounting access.

The Racing Beat exhaust would seem to meet your needs, but check out all the youtube videos to get a sense of the sound of various exhausts.

Good for you wanting to get your hands a bit dirty. Remember that we were all novices at some point.

Proper tools and take your time and you'll be fine.

Looked up some vids and it certainly sound different than the stock and it has some growl to it but not too much. Another question pops up though, can one need the mid pipe and exhaust to get that or no?

Though some videos make it sound really nice and others it sounds like a go cart...

Like these 2 sound good

Greddy may make the cheapest rear strut bar, but you will not likely feel any difference.

Look into some sway bars, more of an involved install but not unmanageable by any means, and they will make the car "less flexi".

Midpipe (aka Catalytic converter replacement pipe in this context) is a point of some contention here. As the Clean Air Act is a US Federal mandate a midpipe is technically illegal for street use nation wide. -No further comment.

It really is best to hear the exhausts in person and with a similarly configured vehicle to your intended.

Note that exhausts, and moreso intakes, don't really enhance the Hp of the RX-8 very drammtically, so it's mostly for the sound volume/tone you want. The possible exceptions are the Borla exhaust and the K&N Typhoon intake.

Yea, I like the idea of a bit more thump on the outside. The performance difference is negligable and therefore not really a plus.
