What coilovers do you want to see made?
Well i might be working with a company to develop some coilovers for the RX-8.
Nothing is official or even really worked out. So, hopefully i'm not violating any rules or regulations by posting an interest thread. I am not affiliated with anyone.
With that said.
What kind of coilovers do you think the market will accept?
Something similar to the Tein basics? $600-$800 range
or something along the lines of the JIC and Tein Flex? $1000-$2000
Just curious so that I can be informed and ready to lean on them if I do end up working on coilovers.
Thanks guys! Any other suggestions are welcome!

for me the Tein basics provied enough range to suit me, and I love the idea of the EDFC. Not necessarily in Car adjustable, but something that only takes a minute to go from 1 setting to the next.

you'll have a lot of well established competition in that price range, good luck
you're best bet is to be cheaper and use lots of marketing gimmicks, most of the buyers in that range are not well informed and only care about spending less ...

^^i agree..
im picking up ksport coilovers soon and they are basically "fully loaded" all for 1200 CND...not much of a price advantage in your case...especially since you dont have a reputation like TEIN HKS JIC.. etc

so basically i'm guessing... the $700 range would be good for a competitive set of basic coilovers... that are maybe just height adjustable.

If you wanna be really hardcore, definately look into some kind of electrontically assissted height adjustment from in the cabin. I believe subaru's had a set that did it, but they were a different design.
But if you can find a way to make some kind of module that will raise the car from a **** in the cabin(that doesnt break ) then you will DEFINATELY have a winner.
Hard task though.

Momentum Keeps Me Going
I'd say you should stand out to be successful, no matter which $ range. Obviously difficult in the lower range, but possible. The simplest in-car adjustment, like a **** 1-5 would impress me for lowend. Go simple, not fancy, but w/a feature hook.
For high $, how about magnetically adjustable fluid viscosity like in some of the new sports cars? or g-Force lateral/longitudinal dependent electronic (mechanical) adjustment? I don't understand the speed-adjustable offered by Tanabe, doesn't make much sense.
Hope you get a chance to try something good!

Electronic height adjustments? WOW
TeamRX-8... I think what a good quality and selling coilover has to be street and performance orientated. It is easy to get side track and get the best price for a shock that aren't any use on the public road. Road is uneven, track is smooth. Yes do not get the Tein Basic or Super Street, but Super Racing is not going to feel good on the road. That is why Flex, hypermax and aragosta is so popular in Japan... the all rounder.
Having said that something like Bilstein is nice and it is very hard to get the R&D pass that.
Tein, HKS, and JIC have a big team behind too.
