Volk CE28
Anybody have the Volk CE28? I'm interested to see what they would look like on the RX-8.
I'm currently running the Volk SF-Challenge in 19x8.5 and 19x9.5. They look great on the street for everyday cruising, but they're kind of heavy for the track (front wheel/tires are 50 lbs, rear combo is 53 lbs per corner). Plus 19" tires are expensive to burn through.
I am weighing options as far as super-lightweight 18" rims for occasional track use and long road trips. The main criteria is that they must come in 18x8.5 or 18x9, they must be super light, they must look special, and they can't look like the SF-Challenge. Right now, the top challengers are the SSR Competitions and the Volk CE28, which weigh about 16-17 lbs each. I already have Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 245/40/18 tires from my old stock rims (since sold), which weigh 24 lbs each.
The 18" combo would save about 42 lbs.

Negatory -- SF-Challenges definitely not for sale.
Actually, the other issue with the 19x9.5" rears with the +40 offset and 275 tires is that they occassinally rub if I hit a bump or a pothole really hard, which makes them unreliable for track use. It actually hasn't been much of a problem on the street because I have the Tein Flex coilovers with the EDFC, so I just stiffen up the rear shocks to reduce the likelihood of rubbing.
Plus I can't rotate my 19" tires, either, which will also reduce treadlife.

lightest wheel I have found is buddyclub P1 racing QF. 18x9 35+ 6.7kg about 14.1 pounds if I'm getting the conversion right. the fitment is questionable depending on lowering, camber and rubbing preferences.
they don't look bling; but light wheels don't. pollish the wide lip and and they might look sweet.

Relentless, those rims you are considering are amazing. I love them. Do you know how much they cost?
I also like the GT-N, but I don't know the weight for those in 18'. Does anyone know?
Which one is lighter, the ce28 or the gt-n?
Thanks

from a japanese shop "Ce28n 8.5Jx18 +38 7.6kg" sure they are light but they are 18x8.5 for a 18"x9" you can add another 400g. so at 8kg they are about 1.3kg more than the buddyclubs. still any weight on the net is a guestimate as they are usualy done with household scales which can read + or - 1kg out.

hmm... the last thing I can do is go to a dealer and weigh them myself
so what do you guys think, will the difference be noticeable? Stock rims are not that heavy, about 21-22lbs.
I think I'll go for the GT-N at 18x8,5fr and 18x9,5rear. I just hope they're not heavier than stock

there is a japanese guy with these rims on his rx-8 in similar sizes try emailing him for a estimate? http://www2.odn.ne.jp/~cbw14200/

You might try e-mailing productinfo@mackinindustries.com for the weight.
