Valve stems in stock wheels?
I have a spare set of stock 18" wheels with the TPMS removed. I was planning to have my local discount tire shop mount winter tires on these wheels, and just leave my OEM Dunlops on the original wheels with TPMS during the winter. My question is: will the tire shop have any problems putting a normal valve stem into the stock wheels with the TPMS removed? Or is some kind of adapter needed? My local Mazda dealer's service guys couldn't answer the question readily. Thanks! MARK

I thought Connor at Tirerack said the valve-stem holes in the rims which accept TPMS sensors are larger. I thought my local tire shop said that too, however, they also said they could get a rubber valve-stem to fit that larger hole. Talk to your favorite local tire installer as see what they can do for you (best of all if it is one you can trust).
