Valve stem cores

I need some help here guys. I have a valve stem core that is stripped out in my TPMS sensor. I ordered a new sensor, $123.35 out of pocket. My question is where can i buy some spare valve stem cores that will work with the sensor? I cant find any anywhere. I went to the dealer and he told me that he couldnt just order the core by itself. He even showed me an exploded view of the part and it doenst have a part # just for the core. Any ideas? I just want to have a couple on hand for spares. I'm sure they're only a couple dollars each at most.

Thanks in advance,

I haven't taken one out. Are they any different from the standard core?

The guy at the tire shop told me that if they get unscrewed and screwed in more than a couple of times, they should be replaced. He said that they shouldnt be more than a couple of bucks each. I just need to find out where I can get some for spares. As far as bieng a different style, he told me that the ones for a tire pressure sensor ar usually different than a standard core. He had some standard ones there for a regular valve stem, and they were not the same.

Thanks

I hope not. I bought a set through a forum member and he didn't have the cores.
Who makes the TPMS modules for Mazda. I would imagine that they must have a replacement pat #....

I bought a set that didn't have the cores through another forum member also. I just thought the tire shop could put in some new ones. I guess I was wrong and I hope we can find out where to get them soon. I already ordered my wheels!

I'm going to call around to a couple of different dealerships and ask about the cores. If you look in your trunk and you have the flat repair kit, you know the one with the little air compressor in it, there is actually a spare in there in a little ziplock baggie. Unfortunately, I've already used mine. I sure hope that somoeone on here has come across some cores somewhere and they can point us in the right direction.

Good luck,

I wrote an email to Siemens today. We will see what they have to say. I also read someplace that the valve cores for all TPMS are the same??? Dont know if that is true or not but it could be worth a shot. I am going to call the local Jeep dealership tomorrow because I have a part number for some replacement valve cores for their TPMS and if all TPMS cores are the same then maybe??? Plus, the MSRP is ~$2.10 each so if it don't work I'm not out much.

I didn't get a reply from Siemens today but I did talk to my local Jeep dealership (which just happens to be my mazda dealer) I ordered 1 valve core for a Jeep Grand Cherokee. The part number was 4897346AA and it was $2.10. It should be in on Monday and I will see if it fits in my TPMS?

Yes, my dealer told me they didn't have a part number just for the core. That's why I ordered one that's for a Jeep. I have talked to a couple of different places and they all said the cores should be the same for all TPMS. I guess we will find out for sure on Monday.

Well the valve core came in today and it was a perfect fit. I went ahead and ordered 3 more and they should be in on Wednesday. When I got home I compared it to the extra one in the tire kit and it was an exact match except the little black ring was red on the one I just got. Anyway, at least you know you can get them...

Tdiddy, one quick question. The core you ordered, was it a core specifically for tpms or just a generic core for a jeep?
Thanks in advance

The cores I ordered are specifically for TPMS. The reason I order the cores for a Jeep is because I found the part number for the Jeep TPMS core by itself. Mazda told me that they don't have a part number just for the TPMS core and that if I wanted to get the core I would have to order the entire sensor. ($85.50)

However, the Jeep TPMS core by itself (part# 4897346AA) was $2.10 and even though it is for a Jeep it is the exact same as the OEM Mazda TPMS valve core.

Discount Tire may give you some cores for free. Ask them.

Yeah the tire places pull the cores when they deflate the tire.

Most of the time they replace them with new from what I saw at Discount tire.

They have buckets of them.

Smart ***, since Jeep sells the valve stem core, I was asking if they use the same exact sensor.

Yes they do sell sensors, they are $57 each from the dealer.
