TPMS error light

TPMS error light
Hi guys, new to the forum here, hoping you can help me out. I just had my stock tires changed at a local wheel shop and everything looks great except the tpms light is lit on the dash. I called the tech and he said just wait 20-30 miles and the light will go out on its own. I searched google for any kind of truth to this and couldn't find anything. I did learn however that it's fairly easy to break the pressure sensors (or valve stems, one of both of those). I checked the pressure on all the tires and 3 of them are 32 lbs, but one is actually fairly hard to get an accurate reading. Every time I put the guage on the tire I can't get a tight seal, there's always a little air leaking. I tried filling the tire up to 32 and it initially read it was 28 or 29 lbs. The tip of the stem is chipped (pretty small, but perhaps significant?) however, perhaps the reason why I can't get a tight seal. Think the tech is right or do you think they screwed something up? Thanks.

There is a fix if you have a leak around the stem. I have done this on my car when mine was leaking air. Get a 10mm wrench and take off the cover that goes over the neck of the stem. Get a small rubber o ring (I forget the size but it is pretty small) and slide it onto the stem as far down as you can then reinstall the stem cover. When you screw on the cover it will push the o ring further down and should make an air tight seal around the neck of the stem. Mine has been like this for months with no more leaks. Hope this helps.

I'll try that rubber grommet idea, sounds like it'll fix that problem. I did bring the car back to the shop and their scanner couldn't remove the tpms light, but they suggested something that I also found online, and that is to have the car off for 15 minutes then drive for a min. of 12mph for 10 minutes. What I would like to know is can I go below 12mph during the 10 minutes? Is this like the movie Speed but slow motion? Or can I do stop/go driving so long as I stay above 12mph for 10 minutes all together? Thanks.
