Toyo Proxe 4 M+S in the snow

Hey All,

After much debate, I finally decided to have 225/40 Toyo Proxe 4's installed instead of Blizzak LM-22/25's. I saved about $700, and hoped for the best.

After the recent snow storm, we had about 10" of snow, and several areas with large drifts...there was about a foot of snow in front of my garage, and although the parking area had been plowed in my complex, they did not plow by the garages. To my surprise, my 8 pulled right through it. I should mention that I do have 160lbs of rock salt in my trunk. I have not been stuck once. I am still driving like I dont want to get stuck, but these tires have done very well.

They were $576 installed....the unfortunate thing...Belle Tire scratched all four of my stock rims. They ordered a new set from the dealer.

So if your looking into snow capable tires, the Toyo's have worked very well for me.

That's what i'm getting w/ my new wheels.. NEXT WEEK!

..you should've told them to get you some aftermarket wheels.. could've saved them $$ and you could use your stocks in the winter.. :p

Are you intending to use them in the summer? I am considering them for 3-season use (I have dedicated winter tires).

I am intending to use them in the summer. They are considered to be an Ultra High Performance All Season...so hopefully they will perform as such in the summer as well. I don't expect them to out handle a Parada, but from what I can tell so far after the roads have cleared....they should be better than the OE Dunlops my 8 came with.

I dont have any info on wear yet, but I have probably put 1000 miles on them already. They are a little louder than the OE, but when you see the tread pattern up close, you'll see why. It's very aggressive, and I am sure that is one of the big reasons why they do so well in the snow. It is alot of tire for about $130 a piece.

I've been using Toyo Proxes 4 in 245/40/18 for a year. They are very acceptable in snow, and ride smoother and quieter than the OE Bridgestones. I swapped the Bridgestones back on for the summer and was surprised at the noise with less than 3,000 miles on them.

About 8,000 miles on the Proxes 4s now, and they are wearing very nicely; rotated them once.
