Total Weight and Corner Weights

Information only --------
Finally had a chance to put my RX8 on the scales --

Specs: Sport model, no sunroof, no spare (just the "kit"), strakes (they are not light), exhaust finishers, 6 speaker stereo, 1/4 tank of gas, anti-sway bars still hooked up.
(scale tolerance is about +/- 2lbs)

Without driver:
----------------------
Total: 2908 (lighter than I thought it would be)
LF: 764 --- RF: 776
LR: 691 --- RR:665

With ~200lb driver:
------------------------
LF: 849 --- RF: 793
LR: 764 --- RR: 703

To save you some math:
-------------------------------
Front = 52.85%
Rear = 47.15%

Left Side: 51.9%
Right Side: 48.1%

5lb difference on the diagonals

I'd be interested to see REAL weight that is added WITH sunroof, full BOSE stereo, leather, NAV system, etc. -- has anyone done one like that yet?

I live in Silver Lake, and have those specs. Do you have a retail shop with the scales on site?

Yes, scales are here (use them for the race cars all the time) --
I'd be glad to weigh yours - just me about a day notice.

Well, if your business hours are what they are on the website, then it may have to wait a few days. Not there on the weekends ever?

Thanks for the info.

I think curb weight include a full tank of gas.

Since you had 1/4 tank then you need another 3/4 tank or about 12 addtional gallons.

12 gals = 45.42 liters * (.75 kg/l gasoline specific gravity) = 34 kg = 74.96 lbs

2908 + 75 = 2983 lbs

So the Sport Package curb weight is around 2980 lbs (minus a few pounds for your extra doodads).

According to MazdaUSA site, the curb weight for the 8 with "popular options" is 3029 lbs, which I assumed is the GT. The difference between the GT and Sport is then 50 lbs which seems about right.

Got mine weighed, GT 6mt, leather, moon roof, 9 speaker Bose, no nav, no driver, repair kit no spare, V1 power cord and clip, CDs, completely full tank of gas, 3,001 lbs. Less than I'd expected, totally cool.

Only 60 or 70 lbs heavier than the Sport that got weighed at the same time (full tank, cloth, 6mt, no spare, no driver). And, it sits 1/2" lower than the Sport, go figure. Odometer: GT 2300 miles, Sport 700 miles.

Great work guys,

I was hoping that we'd have some real world weights posted. The weights look right about what I expected. The 3029 weight was for the "high-power" version (full tank) with options that Mazda expected 30% of buyers would purchase.

The added weight of a full tank of gas to the rear puts the ratio right around 50-50. Great work on the math Good Duck!

Finally put my car on the scales - more out of curiosity than anything else. I have a 2006, Touring - 6MT, Stock (Koni Sport shocks). The following are the measured weights (removed the jack and other tools and tire repair kit):
Total: 2969 lb (no driver, 70% Gas)
Driver Front: 803 lb
Passenger Front: 787 lb
Driver Rear: 684 lb
Passenger Rear: 695 lb
