Tire Sensor

I'm considering a set of winter tires for this upcoming winter. I have a couple of questions. Do I need to get the sensor on the tires (I've seen it usually run ~$50/tire...). What would happen if I don't have the sensor on the tire? Would the low pressure light stay on or off or what?

Also, do I NEED to get a set of 4 tires? Since the car is rear wheel drive, is it OK to just get 2 rear snow tires? It does have the 4 wheel braking though...

Thanks for the input!

yes, the TPMS light will stay on.

You could run only 2 winter tires, make sure all 4 are the same size though. Better to run 4 winter though
