tire replacment

Anyone that has replaced their RX 8 original tires (mine came with Bridgestone Potenza 40's) with QUIETER tires, let me know, please. I just ordered a set of Yokohamas ANS and was assured they would be quieter than the Bridgestones. I've got just over 16 K miles in just over two years..summer driver only...no snow etc.

I just got a set of Toyo Proxes T1R's put on, and they're much much quieter than the Potenzas that came on the car.

They're also 10mm wider, 2 lb/wheel lighter, reportedly have better wet and dry traction, have double the wear rating, and cost about 30% less than a new set of OEM Potenzas....

I'm still trying to figure out why AMG and BMW put Pot40's on many of their cars at the factory.....

The guy at Autobacs said it's probably due to the difference in what Bridgestone spends on advertising vs what Toyo spends.

I should probably add that the price at Autobacs (only 1 store in North America, as far as I know) was about $40/tire less than what other local distributors were charging. The proces at other places, the Toyos were probably about the same price as Potenzas.
