Tire options on stock wheels

Sorry for the noob question guys, but I'm in need of a bit of help. I like the Fuzion UHP but they don't come in 225/45/18. From searching it seems I can put on 245/40/18, but I'm not really looking for better performance (I know, sacrilegious). Is there a better option for me, or can I go with a tread narrower than 225?

Don't go narrower than OEM specs. 225/45-18 or 245/40-18 are where you want to be. Are you looking for an all-season tire? I can help you if I know that.

If you don't mind me asking, why did you purchase such a highly capable sports car if you're not looking for increased performance?

don't go narrower than stock, so either get the 245s or get a different tire.

I always wanted an rx7, so for my birthday I was given an rx8. I only drive it during the summer, when it's not raining. I'm kind of set on my tires, thank you though. My choice is very thrifty oriented, hopefully without sacrificing too much performance. I like not having to slow down on the on ramps!

if your main criteria is being thrifty, there are other options. a few of the top of my head would be the Bridgestone RE760, Hankook ventus V12, Kumho LE sport, or Kumho SPT.

Do your research on Tire Rack...I've been looking for the past couple of weeks. Just look at the Ultra High Performance Summer or Max Performance Summer tire categories and compare the tires you like with the customer reviews and see what you find.

I would recommend Riken Raptors, I have had great luck with them and have never run into any issues. They are pretty cheap too.

Summitomo HTR Z III in 245/40/18 are $131 a piece. They ranked 2nd in a series of Tire Racks testing. I'm leaning towards these now. I was going to go with Continental ExtremeContact DWs but I heard weak sidewall made for less than ideal handling characteristics.

The original tires on my rx8 are getting thin, so i am about to look for new tires. I am searching on Tirerack.com and they have customer reviews as well. I'm not sure yet on what to get, but i'm leaning on Sumitomo HTR Z...

Not sure how "thrifty" those Goodyears are. Aren't they pretty expensive?

Bargain, we can get them here in UK for £112 per tyre in a 225/45/18.... and basically I think they're one of the best tyres out there at the moment!
