ON Tire came off the rim while driving :@

So I have had a set of goodyear eagle GT on my 8 which came brand new when I bought the car in may. Since then I have put about 6000miles on the tire.

I was driving today and all of a sudden I had a large amount of vibration and a weird noise. I pulled over immediately and did a walk around and my rear tire was flat. I didn't notice any punctures and so I tried to fill the tire and see if that was the problem since the colder temperature is here. Nothing. I used the repair kit and nothing... Then I noticed the repair kit had expired last year. I called a tow truck (flat bed) and I got really lucky. The tow truck driver looked at the tire and noticed that the side of the tire under the car had come off the rim.

He jacked up the car and filled the tire with air and then all these bubbles started to form on the side wall and held pressure the tire then popped off the rim randly while jacked up (not while being filled)

So how many of you have had this experience any idea what I should do I have a bunch of photo's taken of the problem, tow truck receipt and even ware on the tire. How much of a fight do you think this will be?

Some thing caused your tire to go flat (ie a nail) and you rode on it while it was flat. This caused damage to the side wall of the tire and it came dismounted from the wheel. That's why the side wall egged up when you filled it with air...the rim damaged the tire while you were riding on it when it was flat, then the tire finally over heated and dismounted. I worked at a tire shop for 4 years and seen that everyday. Filing a claim with the tire manufacture is pointless, as it wasn't their fault the tire went flat and you drove on it.

I had the same thing happen to a flat on my car, drove about 1/4 - 1/3 mile at less than 10 mph and tried to fill up, but noticed the bead had been broken so I jacked up the car and pulled the tire until it sat more closely to how it should....then I was able to air it up. I do have to say though that even that minimal drive on a flat was undesirable. I noticed that the tire was quite marred and hot to the touch even at such low speeds.

I've had a similar experience on the track, except that the tires popped off because I was going sideways on the dirt on a spin out. Drove slowly back to the paddocks, scrapped off the dirt and pebbles with my pocket knife, inflated the tires and went right back on the track. It took me three hours to fully get the dirt and pebbles out. I would not like this to happen again.
