For Those Who Went to a Larger Size....
For those of you who went from 225 45 18's to 245 40 18's, did you notice a difference in handling? Was handling better, worse or about the same? Also did the extra width make your 8 look better? Thanxxxxxx

The answer would vary by tire - not by size. Some 225's probably have more grip than 245's. Handling wouldn't change - but over-all grip 'could' - IF you got a sticky tire

I just came from the racetrack last friday. A year ago, I ran with the OEM tires. Friday I had Falken ST615's in 245/40/18. My speed at the end of the main straight was the same (117 mph). The new tires seem to handle better. I would expect to carry more speed though the last corner and have a higher max speed at the end of the straight, but that didn't happen. The only thing I can attribute this to is increased rolling resistance of the wider tire.
I do think it makes the car look bad from the rear.

I went with the Kumho ECSTA SPT in 245/40's. I think they look much much better than the stock 225/45's. A little better handling than stock but nothing major. One of the major reason's I got the Kumho's was driving in wet conditions. Unfortunately we've only had a trace of rain since I installed them so I still don't know yet how they'll perform in the rain.

"Bad" as in good?

You have to have the same tire but in different size to tell the difference.
No one will ever be able to do that vs stock tires.
However par of handling is the comfort and feel.
You will notice the bumps more with a size 40 tire. The profile is lower so there is less tire to aborb the shock.
